Hi all
Not sure what to make of this
I had a 6 monthly diabetes review today following a non fasting blood test in December
hba1c was slightly up on last time (6.3 vs 6.0) but still ok on 2x 500mg metformin per day, however the practice nurse said
"So, how do you feel about going on statins ?"
"Is my cholesterol that high" I asked
"We didn't test this time - but last time (6 months ago) it was 5.8. People with diabetes can have heart attacks & strokes"
Now, I thought that metformin helped in that respect
Googling tells me that 5.8 is about 'average' and I fully expect that it really ought to be lower
what sayeth the assembled masses ?
