Hello everyone and Happy New Year!!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed the celebrations :D

I have yet more good news to share, if nobody minds me being a bit smug...?

The doctor I'm under at diabetes center at the hospital set me a HbA1c target of 53 for this Friday (which is my first pre-pregnancy clinic appointment) and I was hoping that I would achieve that, if not perhaps a teeny bit lower.
I was honestly expecting to get a 50 at best.

My GP phoned me earlier out of the blue and said "I just wanted to congratulate you on your amazingly fantastic blood glucose control". I had no idea she had gotten my lasted HbA1c result back yet as I'd only had it done the day after Boxing Day but that was why she was calling me.
I am now the (very proud and slightly smug) owner of a HbA1c that is just under the normal range and I am happily sitting at 44 (6.2%)!!!!!!!!!!!!

I nearly cried, I was NOT expecting that at all and it still hasn't sunk in yet.
She's taken me off of Glimepiride effective immediately because I've also been suffering some pretty bad hypo attacks and on Friday I find out if I can stop Victoza and try controlling my diabetes with diet and Metformin alone :D
There is a small chance I may need insulin, but I'm prepared for that and if it means that I'll be safer during pregnancy (as I am now totally clear to start trying) then I'm happy to do it.

I feel like telling everyone, even people I don't know

Thank you everyone!

I had my first appointment at the pre-pregnancy clinic yesterday and it went really well :D
I now have to have monthly HbA1c tests that coincide with the clinic appointments and I had more good news...

My HbA1c wasn't 44....It was 42 which puts me at 6% :D :D :D
I'm not ashamed to say I burst into tears when I was told that!!

I'm now off Victoza and Glimepiride and on three doses of Metformin a day. They're still fairly certain I'll need insulin as their hospital policy is that they don't like women to use Metformin during the first 3 months of pregnancy but I'm actually okay with that as I was told I probably won't need it after pregnancy if I can keep myself stable now.

LOTS of hard work ahead for me, but I know it will be so so worth it.

Thanks to all of you for your awesome support and kind words xxx
