Soup maker

I bought a soup maker after Christmas.

Its great - chop up a whole load of veg, add water, click a button and 30 minutes later you have soup :)

I bought a vegetable stew pack from sainsburys for £1. Chopped it up, threw it in. It made enough for 2 meals with some left over.

Anyone else use a soup machine?

Not even heard of one until your post.

I had a look and they seem quite handy. At least you only have one item to wash up afterwards. Nice and compact too.

I bought a Morphy Richards one from Sainsburys - they are around £50 and look like a kettle.

They are very easy to clean which is a big plus in my book.

I live on my own, so cook for one - it doesn't seem right to have more than 1 pot to wash after a meal :)

I'm finding it easier to eat good quantities of fresh veg.

I only use one pot when I make soup... pan veg stock or water.. hand blender sorted.. I tend to make a big batch freeze some and use some..

I too have a soup maker..........it's called my wife

You can't beat home-made soup, has to start off with a ham shank for taste.

I hve a soup maker too! Fab little gadget, makes (and cooks) lovely soups and ragouts, or without the heat for smoothies and milkshakes for the kids!

I think its great.

I've mentioned it to quite a few people and they all question the benefit over a pan and a blender. To my mind it is much easier than a pan and a blender and, as you say, can do smoothies, too.

I did a stew in mine last week - god some chunks of beef from tesco, browned them off first in a fry pan, then threw them in with a whole load of fresh veg. Pressed the go button. 28 minutes later it was done. Lovely.

The only problem I have with it is that it has a minimum quantity which is about 1.3L That is a lot of soup for one person :)

It will keep in the fridge for a few days or alternatively you could freeze the remainder.

I keep it in the fridge. I don't like to have the same meal 2 days running, but the same the day after is ok.

Thanks,

Mike

I made an avacado and pea soup earlier in the week.

It was glow-in-the-dark green and the texture was like polyfilla!

Didn't taste great either. I won't be doing that again lol

Lol! I have had a few disasters like that. Maybe cube the avocado up and drop it into a different veg soup!
