Leg cramps

Hi
I've again started to suffer with leg cramps , mainly at night and they can be severe in both calf muscles.
I'm not 100% certain of the cause? The calf muscle goes into the spasm and the middle tends to invert itself like a v shape - boy does it hurt

Statins? - I used to take Simvastatin but that was swapped for Pravastatin as the Simvastatin is not allowed following a transplant as it messes with the anti-rejection drugs I guess

Neuropathy? I have that and I see it's also linked to cramps
My ankles are pretty stiff due to nerve damage and flexing my ankles can set the cramps off

sitting behind a desk all day doesn't help either. I try stretching and it's hard to tell if it helps and I've just tried magnesium supplement (30mins ago) to see if that helps

Any way to find out the cause?
Cheers

My 7 year old T1 daughter was suffering from horrible leg pains, especially at night. She was found to be Vit D deficient. Since taking high doses of Vit D the leg pain has gone xx
