Hi,

I've been going through a rough patch with my type 1 diabetes and looking for support. Feelings of sadness, cant be bothered, why me are creeping in :( :( I would like to attend a support group for adults newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes around Preston/Leyland/Chorley/Blackburn area. I've spoken to my GP for local support groups but no success.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 just over a year ago at the age of 30 and have yet to meet another Type 1 in person. I have found this forum invaluable but I feel speaking to others in person would make all the difference.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much, I'll be attending!

I have also spoken to my GP and Diabetic Nurse and have been referred to a counsellor. I wish this kind of support was offered when I was newly diagnosed instead of trying to muddle through alone :?

Hi All .

The diabetes support group has a large attendance of 'various ages'
Young un's,middle age, older ages [so a good mixed bunch of us]
All type's type1/2 LADA etc - attend so no-one can feel left out . :)

All speaker topics are diabetes related .
Any questions can be asked - no question is considered a daft one either .
There is chance to have a brew afterwards chat and certainly meet others .

The insulin users group I am currently getting this cranked up with more folk attending .
It is a small friendly group currently - newly started last year .
We meet lunch time 12noon till 2pm have a cuppa [bring your lunch if needed]
and discuss any issues/concerns with insulin routines/regime's .
We swap helpful news/tips and share/compare all things to do with insulin and diabetes.

I myself attend each month so it would be lovely to meet you all .
Please 'do' bring along a friend or family member if you wish to .
We 'understand' this can help you and they would be warmly welcomed too

Anna.
