Hi guys first timer and doing this for my wife she has been a diabetic for many years, but for the last year or so when eating she looks like she is having hypo's (there not) or worst the sweat drips of her back of her kneck, face, forehead, under chin, chest, has anyone had this issue and is there anything out there that can help her, she wont go out for family meals for this reason alone, we know that it is down to the nerve ends which what consultants says, but has anyone out there had the same and has anyone stopped the sweating or reduced your help would be grateful and thank you in advance for your comments.

People that can't listen to other people's opinions.
People that can't say sorry.
To me more likely a reaction to the food being ate..

Know a friend has same reaction (non diabetic) to any foods with peppers chillis, onions and garlic.

See if there is a common denominator to the meals.

I have had this problem for a few years. Doesn't happen all the time just occasionally. Dr thinks its not diabetes related for this reason. Have not found a common denominator. It is quite annoying especially if eating out. Happens on my forehead and sides of nose slightly onto my cheeks. The weird thing is that even on the hottest day my face doesn't sweat. The body really is a mystery isn't it?

I don't know much about it but I did know the name. Diabetic Gustatory Hyperhidrosis
If you google it you'll find quite a lot about it from threads on other forums , general information sites and several academic papers.
There are several ointments that seem to have been used.
This article from a pharmacist mentions one that I saw mentioned on other sites.
http://oeerotations.wordpress.com/tag/d ... rhidrosis/

Apart from ointments I found mention of botox injections being used for it in T1 patients .http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12499494
(I found on an NHS site that this treatment is licensed in the UK for underarm use, so quite probably not available)

I certainly think it's worth reading around and then talking to your GP asking them for a referral to a specialist if s/he isn't able too offer any help.

Selfish people, arseholes who think they know it all, ignoramuses, chavs and people with no manners. People who play music on the bus or train full blast on their phones.
I usually only get when drinking alcohol or under duress. Since cutting RIGHT down, not been a problem. Last time was an interview last year. Explained the situ re:diabetes, got the job. Still on the railway, wolves to brum, instaed of derby. 2.5 hours less travelling a day!

I get that plain foods generally don't do it.
Anything spicy does, vinegar, nuts apples and most of all cheese

I had the cream that you rub in but it's far too greasy to bother with
