I thought I'd try the bran bread recipe on Ewelina's site:

http://www.diabeticgoodbaking.com/2013/ ... s-not.html

The recipe calls for oat bran, wheat bran and whey protein powder, but I have no idea where to buy these.

I looked at Sainsbury's on-line and in-store and couldn't find them.

Where should I be looking?

(I'm in the UK).

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,
oat bran and wheat bran you can buy in Holland's and Barrett or any other shop with healthy food. I dont think any supermarket sells it. Whey protein powder you can also buy there but be careful and dont buy flavoured ones (you need plain). Its quite expensive and you can replace it with powdered milk but carbohydrates content will be slightly higher (cant remember now but its about 20g more for whole bread)

You're not kidding!

A tenner for 250g

I think I'll go with powdered milk.

I still havent got round to making this. I rarely go into town, so I'm seeing if I can buy the things online and have them delivered.

Yes, the price is a bit shocking. Go for powdered milk especially if you make it for the first time (that would be a bit waste of money if you dont like the bread!). I dont think it will change the texture or taste of the bread. just make carb calculations if you need to know exact carb content.
Let me know how it went :)

Well, I have finally managed to try this recipe out.

It is easy to do - throw it all in a bowl, mix, wait, cook, eat.

Mine didn't rise as much as the one in the picture on your site - maybe I didn't have enough yeast in there or it wasn't in a warm enough place. It still came out with a nice texture and tasted nice with butter.

Here are a couple of pics:

I plan to have a go with the raspberry cake at some point.
