Pump?

What kind of things to you have to do to get a insulin pump?
Test sugars 4+ daily?

Change sets every 2-3 days. Change cartridges and reliad them every 6 days.
Change batteries every month.
More intensive basal testing, this can mean for me, 5 hourly tests, plus the normal other tests.. Sometimes 10 tests a day..
Detaching pump and repriming it properly after bath/shower.
Changing basal rates, bolus, corrections, acting time, - settings on pump frequently on set up... As needed since... But still quite frequently...

Have been diabetic 3 years and the consultant has only just mentioned a pump this month. Is this a new push by consultants?

Government must be pushing them cos of more funding as I have been on mine for 6 months now. Didn't know much about them before they recommended it for me. My lantus wasn't working the way it was during the day and giving hypos during sleeping. With the pump the basal is set to how your body reacts to insulin at certain times if the day and u can adjust them accordingly. Best thing ever the pump. If u can get one I recommend it for a better way of life in general

Each PCT has different criteria for getting a pump. Ask you diabetes team for information.
It's usually consistently high Hba1c or fear of hypos that are the main factors
