I recieved one in the post last week and have to say I am pretty impressed with it. The only set back is that the strips aren't available on prescription on the UK NHS so currently you have to spend £30 for 50 strips which is a bit pricey! Otherwise, a fab wee meter. Any one else have any thoughts on it?

Yes tried it recently, I found it to fiddly for me. The lancets are tiny and with my big fingers hard to get a puncture ended up using my normal lancing device. Its very temping to reuse the same the same lancet time and time again, thought lancets would also have been in a cartridge.

The test strip cartridge idea is good if only I could easily get the bottom cover off easily to change it for a new one, I have to fiddle about to get the cover off. What would of been a good idea is if the strip revolved into its cartridge after its used as still have to carry a old test strip container to put the old strip in.

Thought though the test strips were available on prescription, will have to check the paper work with mine.

I too have one of these meters. I mainly use it when i go on a night out as it fits in my handbag nicely!
The finger pricker is awful and sometimes it takes me 3 attempts just to penetrate one area.
I also get the test strips on percription.
I use the IBG star metre daily which i much prefer as I can view my results and trends with ease on my iPhone.

Can't say it's very discreet either, it's like a step back into the old times with this meter, seems big and bulky to me. My favourite is my xt contour USB

So quite a few differing views on the meter then! lol I have to say the only thing that majorly bugs me is the lack of strength behind the finger pricker. Could be a bit stronger. I like the size but I did have trouble getting the bottom cover off like Pav said. The revolving strip sounds like a really good idea actually :)

I will check and see if my doc will prescribe the test strips. Thanks loads for the opinions on this meter. Any more thoughts are welcome.

Cheers peeps!

NB: About the high readings. I did hear (or rather read) about that problem elsewhere. To be honest my current meter can be a bit hit and miss despite the weekly calibration so any more info on that would be good since I dont have anything to compare the Mendor readings to just now!

Thanks.

My doctors are currently contacting my pct to see if they will prescribe them. They want everyone to use an acu meter. My mentor gave a really high reading but seems to have settled to .5 difference from my usual. Just cant use it as I cant replace the strips

I have received one of the new Mendor discreet meters and think it is a terrific machine for me but cannot get software and drivers to download onto my Windows 7 system computer, has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?

Not sure I have seen this meter. how big - or small - is it? Looks neat and I need small meters. I must go and look it up and find out more about it.

Had mine about a week now and agree with everyone finger pricker could be stronger, and the bottom slide can be diddly to get off, (wasted 5 test strips finding that out), my pct have allowed me to order more strips on prescription, Doc wasn't happy about it though as, in his words, "they are prohibitively expensive!". Although the meter itself is quite big compared to some. The fact that the whole kit, lancets and test strips, are no bigger than my iPhone is really neat and fits in my pocket with ease. I find I'm testing more now that it is so easy and convenient.

Donkey if you prefer small, try the IBG Star, it fits on the end of your iPhone and when you want to , you can email your results to your specialist. On the downside , you need to carry the test strips and finger pricier separately.

Hi guys, I don't want hijack your thread or anything, but I'm happy to assist with the meter's software service, ie. Mendor Balance.

In case you face technical issues other people here cannot help you with, please feel to drop me a line or engage me in chat from any of the Mendor Balance support pages. I also welcome any other (Balance-related) feedback you may have, as we are really early stage, and try to aggressively improve and develop the whole software experience.
