Anyone else think hear on the news today of the diabetic (t1) being jailed for falling into a hypo while driving?

He hit a pedestrian and caused serious injuries.

What do other people think?

I think that he had absolutely no defence. ie not testing, not properly disclosing his levels to his nurse(was she concerned about lows?) not informing the DVLA.
( I wonder if he was hypo unaware but thought he was OK, because he could normally function quite well at low levels . Having been there, I know it's quite easy to get used to lower levels and since you no longer have any physical symptoms think that you're fine. On forums we have people to remind us of the dangers but most people don't meet others.)

Thanks Phoenix, I think it just freaked me out as I was driving at the time (tested beforehand 19.9 so I was fine lol!) and the way the news presenter said it.

I could just see potential for backlash from non diabetics of the 'none of them should drive' variety.
