Here is my diabetes medic alert tattoo, done today. Not great quality pic but I'm really pleased with it, it turned out exactly as I wanted :) I'm a student nurse so we aren't allowed to wear bracelets, even medic alerts, because of infection risk, which is what finally tipped me into getting one after considering it for years!

Smiffy - am sure your tattooist could come up with a great medical tattoo for you .
What designs you thinking of ? Bet he can do a really GREAT one for you .

Blueeyed - your tattoo looks colourful with the bold red .
What is your other medical tattoo of ?
What aftercare treatment do you use ?

Littlefishy - I love the style and how it says sooooo much in an easy to read way .
Is it the hummingbird symbol you have on the side ?

All these piccys are fabulous to see .
Thank you 'all' for sharing them .

Anna .

Cant wait to see it - you designed it yourself ?

How did you find having it done, with your blood sugars and any pain from having it done ?

WOW Deanna .

How GREAT  is that tattoo .
You must be really arty to do the script of all of that .
What type of script is it :?:
It looks very calliagraphic [not sure if spelled this word correctly)

I think its amazing and you must be soooo chuffed with it .
There is 'little' redness around it too .
Appears it took and went very well on your skin.
What aftercare are you using with it ?

Is it your only tattoo ?
I fancied maybe more being added onto mine .
Have just the word Diabetic on my left lower wrist .

Thank you for sharing such a great tattoo with us all .

Very nice!! The script seems similar to Chicano text popular in Mexican tattoos and religious tats, like my T1 design.

Lovely work!! Have you designed others you can share?

I will be back on the tattoo designs. Just got a lot of stuff to sort out at the moment..

In the meantime please post more pics people :3

Deanna, the tattoo looks awesome! I bet you're well chuffed! How long after was the pic taken?

I am booked in to get mine done in Saturday :). After being drawn on by the artist this weekend so we were happy with it :) just got some small alterations to do to it. I'm so excited! I'm getting mine on the wrist/forearm also.

I'm also getting the date put on mine, but saving that till October as that's when I was diagnosed, 20 years this year so wanted to mark it in a special kind of way.

I went on google and typed in tattoo style writing alphabet, and just went from there, i handed him my design and he did change it a little though so it would be perfect fit haha. Im not so sure what the script is sorry/: but yes i am soo happy with it!:') yea it was a bit sore afterwards, i was using savlon but now im using bepanthen :D

Yeas its my first tattoo, well the first thing to have on my body as i have no piercings what so ever haha! I want more now!

It's okay, happy to share it :)

I have contemplated this on and off for many years now, but have last year got a silicone ID band from the ID Band company, so dropped the idea of a tattoo.

Still would not rule it out as it will never be lost or not worn.

Just a word to others, there is a difference between the Rod of Asclepius and Caduceus! One is more seen as an occult symbol or for private American firms and the other an internationally recognised medical symbol

Aw, was hoping it was hand-drawn :/ But there is such a multitude of great fonts available out there, it's easier that way. It does look good

Then I applaud you :D I don't diss graphic designers and digital painters but with all this newfangled technology it's sad when hand skills are lost :'(

Calligraphy and typography can look stunning but it's pretty difficult to do.. Something I will need to practice. I much prefer the thicker body of your font to mine actually..

Your image isn't showing anymore though? :/
