Anyone recommend anyone for pre existing medical conditions??

Normally just use my bank but they seen to have upped there price!

Are there companies who specialise in this??

Also called my doctors surgery yesterday to ask for a new letter for carrying medication..... Was told it will be £20 as "it's my choice to go on holiday" - thought that was quite funny!

I generally use a good comparison sit and make sure I disclose.

I would ask your DSN they normally do it free if you ask nicely

I used "insureandgo" web based. Again, I disclosed everything and not much more than regular ins. Shop around is the key. You don't have to pay silly prices that some companies seem to charge.

I'm surprised your bank has a separate charge for travel insurance.
Ours is a part of one of our bank accounts.. We're off cruising to the Canaries in October and just phoned Lloyds to ask if we are covered. Both of us are over 65 and diabetic. husband is a T1 with multiple complications. Last time we cruised, he needed medical attention on board to the tune of £1500 and insurance paid up promptly too.

It says its free but when I declared I was type 1 I was charged 40 quid extra last year.

This has almost doubled this year.

It's Florida I'm going so need to make sure I'm fully covered - I believe medical bills are really high there! Touch wood never needed assistance before!

I have asthma, sleep apnoea and diabetes - insurers won't touch me however both asthma uk and diabetes UK recommend an insurer called unique / heath Lambert. Tel 01603 828240

Before the diabetes I had my travel insurance to Florida withdrawn 1 month before travel due to a hospital admission, they gave me my money back but would not cover the holiday . they continued to cover my husband and son but wouldn't fly them home etc if I became Ill

Heath Lambert covered me and added my husband and son as companion cancellation/ curtailment insurance. It cost about £250 but cancelling the trip would have been.more.both financially and.emotionally. now I get the same cover and include diabetes and a recent adrenal gland removal on an annual policy worldwide incl USA for £350

A lot to what most people can get on the high street but for me it means a normal family holiday twice a year fully covered. A simple consult in Florida can cost $100 and medications easily take that to $300 and that's without a follow up or hospital intervention

I'm hoping I wil be okay, never had a hospital appointment due to Diabetes in my 21 years of having it fortunetly. Only time I've been back to hospital overnight is for anaphylactic shock from Peanut allegy in 1993 and 2009.

I will keep that company in mind though. :thumbup:

I've used http://www.travelinsuranceweb.com/ for the last couple of years with no issuess and good prices. I'm T1 and my son has pre-existing heart problems.

You also get 17.5% off via Quidco. Worth looking at Quidco generally for insurance as you can save a reasonable amount.

we used John Lewis for a week in Sorrento earlier in the month. Cost was about £35 initially, including my son's pre-existing conditions (genetic and complicated), when my wife called to update it after I had my diagnosis it went up by about another tenner or so.

I got my travel letter from the DSNs at the hospital, absolutely essential for me as I can travel 3 weeks a month with work.
