For the first time since my diagnosis I fancied a Horlicks, looked on the ingredients its over 70% carbs! Checked online and Ovaltine is the same.

Any tips for a warm bedtime drink thats more interesting than just warmed milk?

Competitive sport. I'm more of a for fun type person.
I have cadburys high lights in the winter. It's got less sugar in. I still need to inject for it though

Hot toddy, don't use single malt though, that's a waste, use a blend instead.

Try this.

Snap a small piece off a 70% or 85% cocoa choc bar (I like Aldis one), then break this piece into smaller pieces and throw into a saucepan with half a cup of milk and half a cup of water. Let it boil, stirring occasionally to help the choc dissolve in the milk and stop little bits sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Hey presto, low carb hot choc drink.

Obviously test a couple of times after consuming just to make sure it agrees with you.

Do you need to have a drink before you go to bed?

No, not every night, but sometimes a nice warm bedtime drink is lovely.

Thanks for the milk, water, dark chocolate suggestion pickledpepper

No probs.

You can 'mix it up' occasionally by adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg. Variety is the spice of life.

In winter the above is a life saver in my FREEZING flat.

It was very cold last night, even put my electric blanket on to take the edge off.

Didn't make a bedtime drink, but will certainly try it soon :D

SpaceChick, you live in a lovely part of the world, I am envious. My bedtime drink is Aldi's De-caf coffee with 10g coconut oil and 20g double cream, yum
