Chuckles21. I think you have the beginning of peripheral neuropathy. It is caused by high and fluctuating glucose levels. You need to ask your gp to refer you to a dietician to help you with understanding a balanced diet. Also going on a DESMOND course may help. This needs to be done as soon as possible before too much damage is done.

Just to put out there - vitamin b12 deficiency can also cause pins and needles and it is more common in diabetics, especially if you take metformin. Might be worth a mention to GP as they can diagnose it with a blood test.

Going to see my doctor tomorrow with pains in both legs from above the knees down to my feet where my feet are killing me and both my hands are numb and feels like I got spikey gloves on but the spikes are facing inwards so as I walk 5 miles a day on patrol in my job it's not the lack of exercise

Noticed there are a few new members on this thread with this problem .

The lower you can keep your BS levels can/will help lessen the intensity
of the pain .
Neuropathic foot/lower leg pain is both very painful and extremely uncomfortable .
Really needs specialist advice and controlled pain management .

Even the footwear you wear - may need to be re-evaluated .
Some persons can benefit from orthotic footwear [ hospital provided
shoes/insoles and they are handmade just for you ]
Please return to your GP or specialist if neuropathic foot pain
gets worse or is little improved over time .
They are the persons who can/will refer you .

Certainly isn't through lack of exercise, your doing the best thing getting it checked out and I do hope its nothing too serious, good luck!

Those high numbers ain't good, I'm not a type 2 but you might want to post some questions and ask for help in the type 2 section of the forum.
