Is it safe to take Humalog mix and Humulin R in the same day

Hi everybody,

I want to use Humulin R along with Humalog mix in the morning. The reason is to decrease my insulin dosage as much as possible due to my health condition. The company stated that Humalog is only recommended for mixing with NPH. I do not want to mix them, I just want to take two separate injections in the morning and only Humulin R in the midday for example. Please advise me if this will work without any side-effect?

"Mixing" insulins refers to mixing them in a vial and then injecting the mix, and it is possible for them to interact which could affect the effectiveness.

That is not what you are doing; there are no inherent problems with taking multiple insulins as long as you dose them correctly.
