newsyear new me! i need help! im a 27 year old "healthy" female who put on three and half stone, 2 years ago, this weight gain has left me with frequent low blood sugar spells, dizzyness, unable to exercise ( i wonder weather im insulin resistant) when doing anything physical it feels like im wearing down my sugars, i start to get shakey , weak and my eyes go blurry, i have to sit and rest or i actually start to black out. Now docs DO NOT KNOW what to do, what it is etc, please help, is anyone familiar with this? im losing the weight i put on, 1 and half down! 2 more to go :) thank you for reading

Diabetes, DIY, winter,
hi beckz.
might be an idea to check your blood sugars to see if they are actually dropping too low if you haven't checked already. does eating something sweet cure your symptoms?
cheers

5 is a non diabetic reading, should be happy with that. Insulin resistance would cause high readings not low. May be when exercising you are either over doing it, or, not had enough fuel for your work out. If its only when exercising you get this feeling try sipping some lucozade as it will give an immediate fue for your body. If happening other times would discuss again with gp

Hi Beckz. Your problem could be 1 of a 1000 things unfortunately so pretty impossible to give good advice apart from keep badgering your doctor until they do more tests. My wife was similar to yourself and ended up being very low on iron so needed supplements but again, could be many things. Prior to exercise, ensure you're hydrated and if you have a meter, test before and after. Hassle your doc until you get a result. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Beckz,
Have you had a full blood test to see if there's an underlying problem. Your blood sugars definitely look good.

yes had full blood tests 2 years ago, should i get them done again? i recently attempted a 72 hour fast but only lasted 40 hours before discharging myself due to a lady passed away whilst she was on the same ward as me (was distressing). but my blood sugars where consistent and stayed around 4.9, i only get symptoms when physically active, and eating and resting cures it! pain in the bum! i have a feeling its going towards pre diabetes due to the weight i put on

Aye, I'd definitely be asking for a full blood test. a lot of things can happen in 2 years. Surprised the doc hasn't done it already.

Do you feel out of breath, have chest pains or have cramp in your lower legs or fingers? Do you think you look pale or your friends have said that to you ?

Has the doctor sent you for a RBC blood test to check your hemoglobin levels ? I can only suggest here things that I have experienced in the past such as the symptoms I have mentioned above.

Of course a qualified doctor or nurse will advise and treat you infinitely better than anything I could possibly post here :)

Frankly if your own doctor is not able to diagnose your issues he should be referring you to another doctor or a specialist, i hear of this kind of thing too often and it should not happen.

I had same symptoms and it turned out to be low bp. By the time I'd get to the doctor symptoms would be gone so bp was fine. On a visit about something else I got dizzy On the way and my bp was so low that the digital monitor couldn't read it. I have a home monitor now to check when I feel dizzy etc. Might be worth looking into. I agree with the previous post, it is simply not good enough for doctors to leave it at 'we don't know what's wrong with you'.
