Susan, these courses are great IF you can get on them, if you cannot then the online BDEC is greatly preferable to nothing at all.Could I just say the DAFNE course is great and there is BERTIE course also which is one day a week for a month rather than one full week. However having done this course myself I think you'd find attending a course in person and having the support of others in the same situation is very helpful and hearing about their experiences and tips is great too. On one of the day's you can bring someone with you eg partner or parent so they can be educated as well. It's worth attending in person if you can.

DAFNE sorry guys ipad auto corrected it for meIs the deafness course only available for type 1? If so is there an equivalent course for type 2?

Ok thank you seeing my consultant next month so I will see them about itAs far as I know DAFNE is just for T1 but there are variations in different regions so it would be worth checking with your Health Trust. Your DSN should be able to point you in the right direction.
