Just wondering if anyone else is prone to these ...?? I feel so rubbish today and the out-of-hours GP has just prescribed me antibiotics. Hope they work soon to stop these chills :-(

being a diabetic and finding restrictions.to life style. people who do not understand the problems one has. not being able to afford to come back to uk for holidays as often, quite expensive. miss some foods that the French do not do. but can live with that French drivers. who love to tail gate. and they love to drive over the white line. in rural areas they are a pain. but get use to it. does put the wind up you. But driving in the UK found that drivers want to get as close as they can. and the traffic. it took me 25 minutes to get to friends house which was less then a mile away. due to traffic.
sorry to here that what are the symtons

Flank pain in RHS in waist area radiating around front to back, groin pain, pain on urination, chills, dizziness, nausea, sometimes headaches and when urine checked an increase in white cells indicating infection.

Well, I had been having a lot of problems having started the drug Victoza. Not sure it is related but I know stress plays a part as does dehydration. The diabetes cure stresses me out so I'm not surprised.

Really. I have heard of victoza, are you diabetic 2 what does this drug do for you. ? Sorry to ask these questions. but I live in France and the only tablets I take is diamicron 60 mg Galvus 50 mg. plus others with no relation to diabetes. Just falling apart. But do not have a problem with the tablets at the moment.
I know that I always ensure my pee pee is light in colour drink a lot of black coffee and water. Now keep off the chocolates and cakes. although very hard as out here everything you buy has chocolate/ The French love it. Me no thanks I do try to keep well, does not always work out but I have heard that stress can cause a problem. I hope that you have sorted that part out and then maybe you can get back to normal I do wish you luck.
Always think there is another day tomorrow and things can only get better !!!!!.

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
If you have a kidney problem, you should be seen by a specialist. Diabetics are very vulnerable to kidney failure. Your GP will know this if you ask to be referred.

@south711 -- yes type 2. Victoza inhibits gut motility (slows digestion) so you feel fuller for longer thereby lowering blood glucose. It sure works when you start not eating at all!!

I feel so nauseous I am right off my food. Not even a square of chocolate would entice me at the moment. I have had worsening side-effects since starting taking it. DSN says to stop them but offers no other solution. Am already on humulin I insulin which gives me similar (milder) side effects as well as massive weight gain. I am so unhappy on these meds -- as are my children who witness the problems.

Sorry about all this I can see your problem. and fully understand. it must be stressful for you. But you did say you were doing ok. Can you not change your meds. I do not know what the doctors are like in the UK. Are they helpful or just say it is something that you live with. Can you not see any other person with diabetic knowledge. There must be consultants, who could advise you about getting back to some sort normality, I know we all have problems which we try to keep under our hats but if you have children it is stressful for you plus the children, They must be as worried as you.

I know that living over here ,they are very much into diabetics. and any problem that shows up they are onto it. I am thankful for that. My doctor warned me that if I could not reduce my levels. he wants to put me on insulin. I am not having that regardless. as I feel that my diet is the problem but trying to understand the french is not easy .....language problem, that is why I came onto this site. I can talk to people. who have the same or similar problems. and in english
My Doctor changed my meds. and reduced them so the next time I go to the lab ..........we shall see.

I have friends who are diabetics. and friend who is one also. he takes no meds. He controls tt with right food. and exercise it works ok ,has not put on any weight. but he refuses to go on meds.
I have others who drink far too much and are on meds. they don't have a problem. So you tell me what is right or wrong.

No one I know seems to be having a problem and they do not seem to worry about it at all. They live there life to the full. Friend says when he feels down he has something to eat even if it is late at night

Sometime ago I was having sickness problems. I went to Holland and Barratts and bought some crystalised ginger bits ... more like a sweet.....stopped the sickness feeling.. I do not know if they still do them. but it worked for me as I had cancer and could not take the pills they gave me whenever I felt sick I would take a piece of ginger.

Sorry to rattle on. but you sound so sad. and you need to think as positive as you can for your family and yourself.. DSN says stop.... maybe then you will be normal and get back to your routine. as you said you are taking other meds.

Can you tell me why they put on these victoza . You could always try and eat smaller amounts and at a slower pace !!! Little and often....what was you like before taking these................... eating normally ?
I understand what they do.
How do they diagnose that you have a gut problem ? If this all started before ........maybe DSN are correct surely they know what they are talking about.

Well DFiona I do hope hat as each day passes, you will get thru this Can your doctor help you ?
