Tubs and I attened a meeting about the NHS convention and they were very surprised when I asked for a salad lunch. Everyone else ate the sandwiches provided. I confess to pinching the lettuce and tomato garnish from the sandwich plates
However, I went to the event last year and it was excellent on research, drugs, technology - I just avoided the seminars on healthy eating and lunch. Am going again this year.
When I went to choose a pump at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary a few weeks ago, the diabetic clinic thoughtfully provided doorstop sandwiches, cakes, chocolate biscuits and pure orange juice. I stuck to glass of water and was asked why I didn't want to eat anything! The nurse seemed very surprised when I told her that there was more carb in one sandwich than I'd eat over the course of a few days and that I was a little surprised at their being chocolate biscuits on offer!
