any idea as to which are on the market?
it appres that i can only get the free style optium here.... and it's not covered by my HMO here.... so i would have to spend out of pocket for the strips..... but I understand that it's really the best way to know if your going into dka.....

But ... but only need to use it if/when your blood sugars very high?

I have a Freestyle Optium but never got the strips because I thought the price was absurd.

I use freestyle strips. They're not on my repeat so I buy them on eBay. U shouldn't really need them often. I only use them if the wee stick goes pink

So glad I live in Scotland. I have never been questioned about any of my supplies. My GP lets me manage my own Diabetes, will prescribe me anything I ask for, and goes by the theory that a £20 box of Ketone strips is way cheaper than the 3 nights I would spend in hospital with DKA :)
