Hi, has anyone had any problems with travel insurance?
I've just called Aviva to update my condition from type 2 to type 1 and they have declined to cover me for this. I'm assuming this is because I ended up in hospital twice with DKA. The first admission occurred as a result of being misdiagnosed for 7 years and therefore didn't know my BG was so high until I ended up seriously ill. The second admission was only a day after being discharged due to not being prescribed enough insulin, both times no fault on my part. I tried to explain this to the Advisor and explained that my condition is now very well controlled, however as there was no option to enter this into the system, she could only update my initial diagnosis.
I'm feeling really frustrated about this and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, and if anyone could recommend an insurer that will cover type1?
