the DN was so shocked and surprised at how well done i have been
she did ask how often i was testing, and she said to only test every few days, but i will carry on testing the way i have been doing

Don't be hard on yourself Ally. Those are OK readings for evening meal Only a 1.5mmol/l rise. I would be pleased with that.
