So what's in the starter pack that you can't get just by buying the reader and a sensor?
The starter pack gave you two sensors and the reader with a level of discount. If you only want to buy one sensor, then there is nothing stopping you simply buying a reader and sensor.

If you are not already registered as on the site then you cannot purchase the parts of starter pack separately.

I tried that. It seems to be a supply chain issue all round so they are only supplying to existing customers until they can ramp up production.

My sensor no. 7 is being erratic - three duds out of seven is not good. I'm doing more fingersticks than I ever did without the Libre because I don't trust it. Starting to wonder if it's worth the expense.
That's the problem I had with Libre. When they work they're brilliant, when they're out consistently they're still useful, but when they're completely random they're bloody useless - not even good for trend data.

Following the comments on this thread I am left wondering if perhaps they are essentially piloting this in the wild so they can get the feedback to sort it out.
Maybe when the supplies resume they will get on top of this... at least I hope that is the case.

I had a voicemail today from abbott querying the payment on my order. I haven't ordered in over 3 weeks! Surely they're not going to take payment this late? ****

Yes, I have and asked them to call. Finally realised that was the way. Harder running a Libre outside the UK tho. But I can't wait for the Danes - they'll probably object to the Libre on ethical grounds. - They're like that.

Bolus learning would really be helped by Libre. My BG measurements are accurate, but there just aren't enough of them ,.. and they leave out the spikes. They're too upbeat.

All part of the exhausting D up-and-down rollercoaster. Wipes me out.

Thanks Smidge. :)
Lucy. Abbott suggested today I emailed if I was on holiday out of UK. They don't need to know where you are 'on holiday'

Uhm..diabetes
Just found out that my first 3 sensors weren't the best ones, since they always were 1-2 mmol lower than the real value. My current one is much more accurate, checked twice in 6 days: one time no difference at all and one time just 0,3 mmol. So lets hope sensors will stay like that..

Just started my 4th replacement sensor. Seems as though I have now had around about 1.5 months of replacements and resends. The old ones have gone back. Let's hope this is a little more accurate. Can't complain about the service I've received though! It's been pretty good. Just a pity that we're still Beta-ing it.

I hope that means they have worked out the bugs and you haven't just dropped luck with that sensor.

Alas, it probably doesn't mean that, Andy. We've had problems with sensors right the way thro. My current one - no 8 - is a dream, so accurate and consistent that I'm only testing once a day. Of those eight, three have been reliable. One refused to activate and of the other four, three sort of settled down after 3 consecutive days of reading low (to being consistent in their low-reading, anyway) and one was randomly inconsistent right through. Most users have had both types of experience, so it doesn't seem to be anything to do with our individual physiology.

Just to warn you. You've got I'd say a 40% chance of getting a good one.

Hey I can live in hope. Most new products tend to bit a little inconsistent at first, remember what some of the older test strips used to be like?

I remember the optical readers used to be a little, ahem, inconsistent....

On another note, reading all the people that have been coming on with issues of glucose level control, I realise how useful the libre really is. Again, it's all about the graphing information, but every night is effectively a basal test night with no need to get up as you are always able to see what happened to your IFG level overnight and that makes management hugely easier!

I can see that NHS Prescription usage could have a benefit in simply reducing time spent with Diabetes specialists because people who wanted to could take much better control much more easily.

I think as long as the BG to IG offset is ok in terms of +- is consistent along with the time offset then it certainly makes it very useful.

I think once they get the manufacturing completely sorted we could potentially see improvements. It is still a pretty new product.

To balance things out, I'm on sensor 7.

Fallen off or came loose - none

Faulty - 1 on day 13 that stopped giving the graph on the reader but still gave instant readings. Replaced by Abbotts even though I still got a fortnight's data from it.

They've all been very accurate for me - within 1mmol of my Aviva accuckek expert when checked ten minutes after a blood test.

I had one that reacted with my skin. It caused no discomfort whilst on my arm, but the red mark left was itchy for a few days after & took ten days to fade.

Other than that, my basal is pretty much spot on with a steady 5.5 trace right through the night after being adjusted after the libre showed me as low most of the night. I did crosscheck on the third night with the dreaded hourly alarm and blood test to confirm.

Other than that, it's great for monitoring levels while walking or playing a round of golf & gives a great insight into how you react to your insulin.

I'm sure that this type of technology can only improve with time as other manufacturers bring their efforts to market..

It's been a month sice I wore my last sensor, waiting and waiting for my skin reaction to clear up with Steroid cream. I switched to old fashioned Savlon in the last week as the steriod cream had done its job, but my skin was really dry. Boy, did I miss the trend data.

I've just put my latest sensor on.

I cleaned the area and applied Skin-tac, then placed a piece of Opsite flexifit on the skin. More Skin-tac on top of the flexifit and fitted the sensor over the top of that little lot. Hopefully this will keep a barrier on my skin, which won't peel off. I'll keep you all posted for those that are having a similar problem with skin reaction.

Similar here. Month later and not fully cleared up. Spoke to DSN and she suggested Cavilon or like you have, to try Opsite underneath. Have ordered the Cavilon but if it starts to itch it will be straight off. Then I may try Opsite. She also suggested Lift Plus for getting the adhesive off after she says free samples can be ordered from their website.

Well my latest sensor will have been on a week tomorrow. I used the Cavilon spray before applying the sensor and then as with my other sensors there is some Opsite over the top to protect it. Initially it was fine but I have felt a tiny bit of itchiness in the last day or so, however I'm not sure whether this is me being paranoid. Initially the sensor was pretty spot on but it seems to vary by up to 2mmol which is frustrating. I will keep it on for now unless it gets a lot worse and will post updates if anything changes.

I have been chasing Abbott regarding the last sensor which fell off and caused major irritation. It was returned to them several weeks ago and despite chasing them, it has not been replaced. I keep being told it is in their labs for analysis and a replacement will not be sent out until this analysis is complete!
