Hi Scottie I think that part of your problem is that you are not eating enough. I went on a very low calorie diet years ago and lost the grand total of 5lbs in two months. However I also felt very ill and my doctor told me that I had to start eating properly again because my metabolism had slowed to the extent that my body was literally shutting down - does this sound familiar? Have you also had your thyroid checked? On the food front if you are eating low fat swap them for full fat, eat cheese, eggs, meat etc you can also eat peanut butter if you like it! Burgen bread has 12g carbs and the Hovis seeded sensations (much nicer in my opinion) has 13g but it must be the one with the orange wrapper. y and up the calories if you can and hopefully you will soon be feeling better!
I bet our Scottie is still in bed, someone go pull the covers off her.
Come on Scottie get up, it's a new day.
Hello Milly, I did go back to bed for an hour as still feeling very light-headed but I haven't been in bed all morning. Though I could have stayed there as hubby was cuddling me and it felt lovely.
Haven't eaten today as yet, don't think I can tolerate Weetabix as had two in the early hours of the morning as was feeling a bit peckish, and my BG result this morning was 21.
Hope you have had a good day so far, I would love a dog to take for a walk. Can't really do that with an old cat.
BG before eating 24.1. Feel like swearing very loudly.
Hi @scottie1,BG before eating 24.1. Feel like swearing very loudly.
'see a Dr' advice was given on page one and many times after on this 61 page thread, some people don't want toHi Scottie,
I would follow the advice from Catherine - it is better to get the doctor to check things out until then try not to worry and keep doing what you can. Perhaps there are other things going on that are also pushing your bloods up - stress for one.. Also if you are running around a lot after your children, that could also cause your BS to rise.
Also, to answer one of your questions regarding Gliclozide - I currently take this 2 x 80g per day - and as I've said before, I seem to have trouble loosing weight. I have no idea if this is the reason why - but my dr's are holding a Diabetes Clinic on the 14th March.. this is a new thing they are trying out, so I am going to ask the question whether this medicine is hindering my weight-loss.
Please try not to get dishearten, we are all hear to support you if we can.
I missed about the app on the 16th..I hope it goes well for you and there is a good plan in place to bring your BG downI've got an appointment on 16 March, this was the earliest I could get in despite saying it was important.
Jack - yes I know I was advised to see a doctor but as my BG levels were coming down, I didn't feel it imperative but initally I did see a doctor who increased my dosage of Gliclozide. Also, due to the fact that I didn't feel the doctor was helping made me wary. i did get the forms to register with another practice but have yet to make an appointment. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
There is nothing like making people afraid of posting, is there?
BG 17.4 pre meal.

My typical diet is 2 x sachets of porrige at approx. 1pm and then I have my dinner at approx. 5pm.
For my dinner I have either sandwiches ( 6 x slices of bread) with crisps or a meal containing meat and potatoes.
I don't know how I am going to follow a low carb diet as, as you can see, I eat a lot of them. I don't like vegatables or yogart.
I know I'm over eating, just don't know how to stop it. So ashamed.
