It was 11 out of bed, 8.2 before breakfast and 8.5 after. I only had a coffee for breakfast too.

I think our problem is we are taking too much notice of other people. How some get down to 20 carbs per day I don't know.
Some people say if you do Y times X, you will achieve z.
We are all different. By best friend of 53 years, had to have a double mastectomy 5 years ago. Her twin sister is fine.
Must phone my friend, last week she was told she is now pre diabetic. I think she might just be saying, sod it.

I have made lots of changes, which must be a plus. I am going to stay with the tortoise, the hair, well he could just burn himself out.

Hi Scottie I think that part of your problem is that you are not eating enough. I went on a very low calorie diet years ago and lost the grand total of 5lbs in two months. However I also felt very ill and my doctor told me that I had to start eating properly again because my metabolism had slowed to the extent that my body was literally shutting down - does this sound familiar? Have you also had your thyroid checked? On the food front if you are eating low fat swap them for full fat, eat cheese, eggs, meat etc you can also eat peanut butter if you like it! Burgen bread has 12g carbs and the Hovis seeded sensations (much nicer in my opinion) has 13g but it must be the one with the orange wrapper. y and up the calories if you can and hopefully you will soon be feeling better!

I'm going to try to eat more, yes it does sounds familiar Daphne, thank you.

Hello Milly, I did go back to bed for an hour as still feeling very light-headed but I haven't been in bed all morning. Though I could have stayed there as hubby was cuddling me and it felt lovely.

Haven't eaten today as yet, don't think I can tolerate Weetabix as had two in the early hours of the morning as was feeling a bit peckish, and my BG result this morning was 21.

Hope you have had a good day so far, I would love a dog to take for a walk. Can't really do that with an old cat.

A cuddle in bed I think is the best medicine ever.:)

BG before eating 24.1. Feel like swearing very loudly.

Are you keeping a good record of your bs and what you are eating.
I think you need professional help Scottie. When you do get to see someone remember to take your record with you.
Try not to get too disheartened.

Hi @scottie1,

It must be so disheartening after trying so hard and you are still getting nowhere.:banghead:

I would advise that you go back to your G.P. and regardless of his attitude, ask to see a Specialist. It may be that you have LADA as opposed top Type2 and he can do tests to see if this is the case.

If the tests come back negative then at least the Consultant can advise with reference to possible medications and strategies rather than you trying to go this alone.

Oh gosh, I'm crying now. Don't want to go on insulin. I agree, I need to see a doctor no matter which one it is. Thank you Milly and Catherine for your help and advice. I don't think I can do this anymore, I really don't. Does this mean I may have type 1? If I'm reading it right. I'm scared.

There's no point guessing at this stage. See a doctor and keep trying to cut down on the carbs to see if it helps. I think quite a few of us would have high BG's if we had Weetabix early in the morning. Stay calm and see what your GP says and then get back to us. Whatever the verdict there's no point panicking, you will just need to work through it. And you can work through it because we are all here to help. Whilst I understand you don't want to take insulin (and you may not need to) the most important thing is that you get, and keep, your BG's under good control.

All the best

Thank you Zand. BG has one down to 18.4 which I know is still too high but is an improvement. This is 2 hours post food.

Hi Scottie,
I would follow the advice from Catherine - it is better to get the doctor to check things out until then try not to worry and keep doing what you can. Perhaps there are other things going on that are also pushing your bloods up - stress for one.. Also if you are running around a lot after your children, that could also cause your BS to rise.

Also, to answer one of your questions regarding Gliclozide - I currently take this 2 x 80g per day - and as I've said before, I seem to have trouble loosing weight. I have no idea if this is the reason why - but my dr's are holding a Diabetes Clinic on the 14th March.. this is a new thing they are trying out, so I am going to ask the question whether this medicine is hindering my weight-loss.

Please try not to get dishearten, we are all hear to support you if we can.

'see a Dr' advice was given on page one and many times after on this 61 page thread, some people don't want to:nurse:

I've got an appointment on 16 March, this was the earliest I could get in despite saying it was important.

Jack - yes I know I was advised to see a doctor but as my BG levels were coming down, I didn't feel it imperative but initally I did see a doctor who increased my dosage of Gliclozide. Also, due to the fact that I didn't feel the doctor was helping made me wary. i did get the forms to register with another practice but have yet to make an appointment. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

There is nothing like making people afraid of posting, is there?

BG 17.4 pre meal.

Thank you Kezzer, I am certain that the Gliclozide is stopping me from losing weight, I should imagine that it is stopping you also. I am going to discuss it when I next see the doctor on the 16th. There is certainly a lot of stress going on at the moment, things I can't go into here but needless to say, it's not helping either my mental health or physical.

I appreciate your support, thanks.

My typical diet is 2 x sachets of porrige at approx. 1pm and then I have my dinner at approx. 5pm.

For my dinner I have either sandwiches ( 6 x slices of bread) with crisps or a meal containing meat and potatoes.

I don't know how I am going to follow a low carb diet as, as you can see, I eat a lot of them. I don't like vegatables or yogart.

I know I'm over eating, just don't know how to stop it. So ashamed.

The more you try to stop the more obsessed you become
We have a wonderful bakery here and they do this multigrain loaf which I can not resist. 1 slice leads to another, then another. The only way i win is not to buy it, but to buy a 47p sliced white which I hate and wind up throwing to the birds, We have some very big birds here. keep up the fight.

Hi Scottie,
You know your doing the correct things.
Try to stress less, I know it's easier said than done. Try to think of the posertive things in your life.

Try to keep a good record of what your eating etc, I'm sure this will help when seeing the doctor.
Keep off the scales, it's only stressing you out.

Cheers Milly
