i'm a type 1 diabetic and have been since i was 8 (so 7 years) and recently i've been having more hypos than ever.

i've not changed my eating habits at all but whenever i wake up, i have a hypo. when i arrive at school i have a hypo. it's also got to the point where i can't do P.E cos i feel so weak (despite having things to eat beforehand) and teachers are thinking that i'm faking it and said theyre going to force me to do it next time and "it's disgusting to use your disease as an excuse to sit out on lessons" but i'm not faking and i've been feeling really terible recently.

i do smoke, do you think this has something to do with it? please help it's getting too much now

Rude people! Not being able to do the things I want to do.
First thing you should do is go and see your doctor!!Maybe your insulin needs reviewing and also blood tests to see that everything else is ok.

As sugarless Sue advised you must see either your Dr or your Diabetes specialist-it sounds like you are taking too much insulin-I am a T 1 and have been for 37 years-was at boarding school and had some awful hypos during the tijme I was thee -its tough but the thing I would do first is give up smoking -this will definately make you feel better. Good luck :) -

Hey darko123

What annoys me is PE teachers assuming that you would WANT to use diabetes as an excuse to get out of lessons!!! Where do these people get off, eh? They're PE TEACHERS not God!!!

(Rant over!!!) :)

Ok, as they say, it sounds like you're taking too much insulin. You need to test more if you can to see when the big drops are happening. The hot weather will also affect you but in order for your specialist to help you properly he'll need to see what you're running at so he can advise dose adjustment accordingly.

In the meantime ignore your teachers - there's enough ignorance around diabetes as it is, without them acting like they know it all!!!

(Grrrrr!!!)

might be the heat? your pancreas could be having last one squeeze of random life? maybe the food your eating like theyve improved carb or sugar content. probably something to do with smoking, its bad anyway. i suspect if you gave up nicotene levels would drop and your body would react ot it so maybe your smoking more or need more nicotene? go see someone eat carbs. x
