Dietitian Appointment Looming Eeek!

Greetings earthlings,

I was diagnosed T2 last month and despite several warnings about my weight increase from my GP I made the scales creak at nearly 18 stone (I'm 5'6")

I now exercise for 40 mins daily on my exercise bike and am watching my carb and calorie intake - I take 2 x 500mg Metformin daily.

My weight is now down to 17 stone.

So my question is what can I expect from the dietitian?
Is it likely to be a one on one consultation? or will it be a group meeting (something I am not too keen on)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

It will be one to one but you can bring your partner with you - especially if they do most of the cooking.

My experience was it was a one to one consultation. She gave me advice and I did the opposite. Good luck.

Well done on your weight loss :)

I too am heading for meeting with a dietician but it is billed as a one day course from 10:00 to 16:00. As for weight I was diagnosed T2 in February and have gone from 11 stone 6 down to 9 stone 12 without going on a diet, I just gave up anything sweet and manage to keep my my blood sugars about 5 to 6.5 on average

aussie dietitians are mostly the same as Uk ones..eat lots of carb, your brain needs 130g of carb for fuel each day. so a lot of us here are brain dead zombies :)

This gives a simple overview to how it works
For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. They don’t give up easy and it’s biochemical

a long page and a few good video’s

Sometimes I wonder how I'm still walking around - I've been eating 30-60g carbs a day for 3 years now - as Jack says, I must be a brain dead zombie and really good at hiding it ;)
