Hi,

My bass player. (A T1 on a pump.) sent this to me this afternoon then funny enough I received the email..
We discussed this at a practice tonight.

All I know is... (I don't suffer from any pain as such.) but I did use it for a number of years in my misspent youth then stopped... I actually got hold of some for "old times sake" for my last birthday (9 months ago.) & never touched it in the end..
My findings D wise? (No scientific backup.) I felt my BSs were more fluid & less stupid unaccountable spikes.. The "munchies" I found I could fight it when stoned.. More so than if hypo... I honestly feel it may have saved me from the complications some of the non user Ds get at a certain time of life.. But I don't know...?!
I have heard of benefits to MS sufferers too..

But I'm not sure if this is a retaliation by the pro weeders...? You know the whole demonisation by the paper industry against hemp? Or a common benefit..

Personally. When I was on it at the time.. (Spare time when not having to work.) I didn't like the loss of any "credibility" due to being a "known pot smoker" or the distance it caused from my family.. My partner. Now my wife. Though easy going was thankful when I stopped... She found me distant...

Just trying to put a rounded angle on the subject. ;) But I am glad you brought this up...

Thank you ...it's one of the subjects that never get enough talk on....there has barely been any studies on the effects of canabis to diabetes .....

Anyone else have thoughts

There have been a couple of brief mentions from a couple of members in the past regarding casual users testament to BS control as well as the "stress" lessening factor..

My feelings are it didn't do my diabetes any harm.. As far as BS control was concerned.. But there may have been other factors involved at the time such as work load, age,? To name a few...

It would be great to see some science. Either way..!

Anyone wanting a good education about cannabis for pleasure medicine and the plant itself in history will do no better than to read this book .... first published in the seventies.
You can read it free here on line .... The Emperor Wears No Clothes ...http://www.jackherer.com/thebook/
The world was built expanded fed and educated because of cannabis hemp.
Without it civilisation might not have been so civilised.
Exploration across mountains and oceans was possible due to the qualities of hemp in making ropes sails clothes waterproofing seal for ships medicine .... in fact it was the go to medicine for almost everything for thousands of years. Building material food lamp oil.
The seed oil is the most complete oil for a human being and the cleanest lamp oil on the planet.
It was criminalised by big business for big business nothing whatsoever to do with health.

At this link you can receive the latest scientific news and research on cannabis ....International Association for Cannabinoid Medicine ....

When the book was published mid seventies it had in it contact details of where to claim one hundred thousand dollars if you could prove any of the statements in the book wrong and the whole book is statement after statement.
No scientist historian law enforcement official judge teacher parent researcher ever came forward with any counter argument.
A hundred grand was a lot of money back then .... not to be sniffed at now.

All this stuff about skunk being the strongest weed ever .... rubbish .... more propaganda.
It may well be fourteen times stronger than what you grow in the back garden but it has never been more than maybe three times the strength of greenhouse grown on a good year and not as strong as the best resins available throughout the sixties and seventies from all over the world.
Skunk resin would be much stronger than skunk herb but no one bothers these days .... time effort skill and the price would be prohibitive.
But the very nature of resin means it is a lot stronger than the herb.

A mate of mine had this book.. He could pretty much quote it "verse & prose". Lol I remember borrowing it a long time ago for a read myself...

There used to be a hemp section at the "Eden project." In Cornwall.. It covered a cordoned off area of about a quarter acre.? While I was reading the educational plaque, four elderly Dutch tourists were traipsing their way right through the middle of the crops like a geriatric children of the corn.. One of the ground keepers started shouting at em to get out.. :p You realy couldn't make this stuff up!

Every town and place with the word hemp in was at some time in the past a major hemp growing place.
Britannia ruled the waves with hundreds of hemp factories making rope sails shirts and trousers.
The closely grown hemp produces little and often no drug but obviously the guys growing it would have some seperated out for medicine and or pleasure but it's where the saying .... smoking old rope ...comes from.

Not knocking any of this.. But hemp material was pretty flammable.. Possibly owing to the old spontaneous human combustion myth..?

Interesting, very interesting.

My wife is a patent agent, specialising in pharmaceuticals. In the past she has had dealings with the head scientist in charge of ongoing research into cannabis. You probably know that there are two components to cannabis, one which gives you the high and the other which gives you the pain relief. The research is really into cultivating the stuff to have more of the pain relief and less of the high.

There are large greenhouses full of the plants, here in the UK, where it is grown under license, but very few people know where, except for the powers that be, whoever they are.

I think Colorado is one of those states in the US that allows cultivation and dispensing of cannabis for medical reasons, although a town can ban it in their town. I saw a series of programs about the amount of pain relief that it gives people and it was truly amazing. Sadly, some people were more worried about misuse and it was banned in several towns.

I also seem to remember reading about a lovely old lady who used to have friends round to share her cannabis cakes to relieve their arthritis aches and pains and she had been taken before the magistrates on several occasions. I also read of a young lady who fed her gran some cannabis cakes and her poor old gran thought she was having a heart attack, they haven't spoken since.

I'd like to think that there is some future in using cannabis for pain relief because my using cocodomol is causing all sorts of grief apart from the obvious.

It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

I'm on very strong opiates .... Palexia.
These are prescribed by the pain clinic at the hospital.
First they discussed cannabis spray with me but decided on the Palexia.
I protested and said surely I should be starting on the class B stuff with no addiction problems first but nope straight in with the smack!
Doesn't make sense.

I'm presently taking cocodomol for an arthritic knee, muscular spasms in the back and sciatica, I also get inflammation of the knee that's been replaced but usually when I've done too much walking.

I usually feel that the side effects can be handled by eating prunes, taking Vit C powder (care needed) and sometimes bran flakes, but it's always a balancing act. In the last week I tried to stop and managed several days without cocodomol and just put up with the pain, not moving helps, but useless as an ongoing strategy.

I've taken soluble cocodomol the last few days and my weight has increased by 4 kgs, a lot of water and being bunged up. My problem is that I was wondering how this is likely to affect my ongoing struggle to shed weight as I'm already only eating 50% of my BMR, and avoiding carbs (80gms a day usually). My GP has suggested that it slows the intestinal transit time and my body absorbs more nutrients (and calories) than normal, hence no weight loss).

Any ideas? Any pain killers that don't bung you up and cause fluid retention?

Co codomol seems but a distant dream.
Be about as much use to me now as a packet of Smarties I'm afraid.

Hi, I was made aware of being diabetic with my left foot swelled to twice its size, forcing me to go to my new doctors, he took one ook and asked if
i was diabetic, i told him i had the tests at my old doctors who reported to me that i was not diabetic, he went through my notes on his computer and
lo and behold the test said i was, so after a year of not knowing my body was always running higher than normal and had damaged the nerves in my feet. the next day my foot burst out into a diabetic ulcer (on an old surgical scar in my ankle), its depth went right through to the bones in my ankle, as you can guess, pain has been my constant companion, (they now say its an aeorita ulcer). for the last 12 weeks just pain, they have given me co codomol, buprenorthine patches, gabapthin, so i can now rattle when i walk lol. a friend suggested i try cannabis, so i now use cannabis each night to go to sleep, while stoned -- no pain, i can sleep..yippee... that's the only time I'm now pain free.
I would say yes to cannabis, for me it helps, if your going to try it make sure you get medicinal grade, only get it from people who can be vouched for by your friends, yes its expensive (i get it £10 packets) which last me all week, for me it is worth it, if your not sure try it and see,

hope this helps
regards Adrien

Used for years for pain as I have eroding spine, it's all down to how much I found, you can have a very small amount & that is enough for the pain, if you start having to must the pain comes back, I found, that small amount for the pain also relaxes but doesn't seem to affect day to day things you do.

Yes I agree, how can they refuse medication to make you have a better life, wish I knew where to get it from! I would be first in the queue!
Do the political parties realise, the party that would offer prescriptions of cannabis to anyone who needs the pain relief or is a diabetic they would gain millions in votes!!!!
If only, I'm 70 I know what I need medically nothing to lose.
