I'm 25 and hVe had type 1 for 7 years my hba1c is 4.5 I have in the last two years become less and less able to withstand walking , working and just generally doing normal things my blood sugar control waxes and wains as I imagine everyone's does I am slim and not overweight my current symptoms are seizures relating to I don't know what , stiffness in back hips knees and feet , weKness which leaves me unable to move correctly and now recently episodic foot drop in both feet I have no pins and needles but do hVe a annoying almost cramping sensation in all my muscles all the time my gp has tested my nerves via Emg and says there isn't anything damaged but I was just wondering if any of you diabetics have suffered with either a motor neuropathy or a neuropathy that caused foot drop due to bad sugar control or whether it was just idiopathic in nature please respond I am desperate

I think if you are having seizures you need to be referred to a specialist. sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Agree with @Shar67, you have a lot of symptoms going on there Ryan and you should be referred to a specialist if your Dr can't find the cause.

People that can't listen to other people's opinions.
People that can't say sorry.
With an hba1c for a type 1 of 4.5 that is extremely low. Are your "seizures" related to hypos?

I know you have posted about your symptoms previously.

Are you eating full nutritional meals with a full balance of minerals, vitamins and fats etc? I think you said previously that you don't drink or eat products that are labelled "diet?"

Are you with a diabetic consultant at a hospital- it may be to approach them rather than your GP?

The problem is that say if it is a neuropathy smacking my a1c isn't going to help me is it ? As highs make nerves worse and I'm already at a point where my body is falling apart I have cramps in every muscle if my blood sugar even goes over 8 :/ so I'm kinda stuck I think the sezuires are related to a neurological problem as at the time after a sezuire my blood sugar is around 7 so couldn't be hypo related :/

It sounds to me as if you need an urgent neurology apt + MRI scans.
Not everything is related to diabetes.

Acceptance of health treatment claims that are not adequately supported by evidence. I dislike it when people sell ineffective and even harmful alternative health products to exploit the desperation of people with chronic illness.
Good to hear you are under a neurologist. He should be consulting his colleagues in other places, and asking for help from a pain management specialist and whatever other types of specialist could be helpful, such as a rheumatologist. A physiotherapist might be a good idea too. There might be a multidisplinary team that can help you. Often pain clinics will be set up that way.

There is Orthostatic Hypotension from diabetes that often times can have symptoms that resemble seizures. I am sure your physician has alright thought of that but it is a complication of diabetes . Most people think neuropathy just affects the extremities but it is much more complicated than that . Foot drop can also be-caused by neuropathy . Of course it could be an entirely different problem and not related .
