Does anyone else suffer with extremely severe sweating? I don't even have to exert myself and sweat will be pouring out of me.

Acceptance of health treatment claims that are not adequately supported by evidence. I dislike it when people sell ineffective and even harmful alternative health products to exploit the desperation of people with chronic illness.
I don't suffer with it, but have you asked the doctor about it, as there might be a treatment for it, and there might be tests you need to have to rule out other problems that may be causing it.

I used to find when I was obese that I sweated more readily than I do now.

I think he or she is wrong. Have you had your thyroid levels checked? Are you on any medication that could be causing this? How long have you had this symptom?

Below is a very good article on the condition, that may give you some pointers on possible causes, tests and treatments. Your GP could refer you to a specialist, perhaps a dermatologist or other specialist, depending on what may be thought to be the cause.

Last time I saw him he told me to stop my anti-depressants as it cud be causing it. But that hasn't worked. Ive been mentioning this to my gp's for over four years

Here is another resource about the condition:

You might find that changing GP helps, as other doctors might be more sympathetic and thorough.

I also suffer from this, but Doctors insist it is menopausal hot flushes.
Have been suffering for almost 15 years and have had hormone replacement therapy ) lots of different ones, which eventually caused Pulmonary Embolisms in both lungs.
HRT now stopped and I still sweat profusely from my head. Hair is soaked and iy can last up to two hours!
Still trying to get help.
