Have you lost weight at all? That can sometimes put up total cholesterol level temporarily.
Do you know what your cholesterol figures were? HDL? LDL? Have you a print out of all your results?
In my opinion (having no medical experience but having read about the subject) the figures the NHS want us to aim for are far too low. Call me cynical but HCPs seem to want us all on statins.
Of course you are free to simply follow what your HCPs say unquestioningly, many do. Some of us on this forum have had experience of following bad medical advice so tend to question/research everything ourselves first.
