Pump change issue

Hello! I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I have been type 1 for 31 years and have been on my pump since 2012.

Blood sugars have been great but this morning I changed my pump, did a blood test and was hypo. Took my usual treatment and at lunchtime did my usual pre meal check: 12.1.

Took a correction dose plus also my dose for lunch and my one hour post check was 22.2 :-(

I have corrected "manually" with my injection pen and also changed the pump. Is there anything else I need to do/be aware of?

Currently feeling very thirsty and sleepy. At home with my son and husband so not alone, but I am feeling very worried. Thanks in advance for any advice x

When you say changed the pump, do,you mean the set? With pumps any highs are very often due to bad sets and poor absorption.

I'd change everything - insulin and set. I'd also consider trying a different part of my body for my site.

Insulin needs do increase in pregnancy, but you're a little early for this. It doesnt mean it's impossible though as we're all different.

The only other thing is maybe you're ill or have an infection. Test for ketones, keep hydrated, and if the highs persist then give your DSN a call. Obviously, carry on with the corrections to keep your blood sugar down, and test frequently.

As long as the numbers come down fairly quickly with the manual injection, you're probably doing just fine.

I had a terrible time with sets not working for a while during this pregnancy - I was sometimes changing it 3 times a day because the sites I was picking just weren't working. I just made sure to check numbers 1-2 hours after a set change and if I was creeping up I would change it again and manually correct.

Oddly that issue seemed to stop a few weeks ago but now I have to change the site every day or day and a half because of how sore they get. By 2 days I have absorption issues. I never found a reason for the site issues and no one seemed to have any answers including my endo, minimed, and other folks on message boards.

Thank you both for your advice and suggestions, much appreciated. Thankfully, they did come down and there were no ketones present....phew!

I agree, no one has an answer to poor insulin absorption except to try different sites, longer needles, and different types of insulin. I an struggling with poor insulin absorption myself and I think that I will seek advise from skin specialists or someone who can reverse the affects of scar tissue in subcantaneous fat. if I find someone with answers I will let you know.
