my gp surgery have just rang me
my gp wants to see on tuesday

That sounds a good thing, maybe he is going to give you some support at long last. Please let us know how you go on.

As for your admission you are at times eating more carbs. How often is it and how many? You know you aren't helping yourself by doing this. Do you know what causes this? Fed up of eating the same thing all the time? Feeling depressed? Wanting comfort food? The food is there in the cupboard and you can't resist it? Maybe if you can work out what makes you dive for the carbs you can avoid those situations, or find some substitutes?

I just want to wish you all the best in getting something sorted out on Tuesday. I feel you have been having a rough time and have been so regular in posting your morning readings. I admire you.

Hi ally1

Are you far from Ipswich Hospital ? The Diabetic Centre staff are excellent & the Consultant is the best.

Sounds like you'll have to push your GP, good luck.

Was there anything else with your bacon and egg? To be nearly 2 points up after 2 hours following no carbs at all is very odd.
Did you have a drink in that 2 hours, or any other food, or exercise?

Also, you didn't go down much between 2 hours after breakfast and before lunch, which is also odd unless you had a snack of some sort?

If I eat too much protein, especially eggs it will still affect my BG 2 hrs later so it could be that as well.

Drinking lots of what, Ally? Water? Tea with a lot of milk?

You need to tell your GP when you go on Tuesday about these day time levels. It would be a good idea to write them all down (before and after) alongside the meal you ate, and show them to him. You do need to get these double figures down again.

he wants another full blood test in 3 months and if there is not much difference in my levels, then he will change the diabetic meds completely

Let's hope this increased dose helps you, Ally, but don't use it as an excuse to eat more carbs! The less carbs you eat, the lower your levels will be, and the less medication you will need. Or that is the theory!

Really hope they can give you the help you need. At least the GP seems to realize you need help now and not leave it for another 3 months.

Whilst it might be a bit of a scary thought, it's a really positive step for you right now, getting that specialised support.

Fingers crossed Ally.

Acceptance of health treatment claims that are not adequately supported by evidence. I dislike it when people sell ineffective and even harmful alternative health products to exploit the desperation of people with chronic illness.
I'm glad they are doing something to help. Good luck for the appointment.

I've had a similar problem with my levels - creeping up for no discernable reason, fine from almost always between 4 and 8 mmol/L to almost always being 10 - 13 mmol/L with absolutely no change to diet or routine. My hba1C has increased from 5% to 8%. I've been on metformin for 8 years and have now started on 40mg of gliclazide twice a day. No change in levels as yet but hopefully they will start to come down soon!

Hopefully your new meds will help you.
