Acceptance of health treatment claims that are not adequately supported by evidence. I dislike it when people sell ineffective and even harmful alternative health products to exploit the desperation of people with chronic illness.

You might want to ask your doctor about gastroparesis as your symptoms sound a lot like this condition, which is fairly common in T1. It can also make your BGs fluctuate a lot. There are other conditions that have these symptoms so you will probably need to have some tests to see what is going on.

Are you on any medications for this or any other conditions? In the meantime I suggest eating smaller amounts of food at a time. I've just bought some low carb protein based milkshake powder for those times when I need to eat but have no appetite.

Catlady spot on for advice.

You may wish to speak to your GP and explain your stomach probs and ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist and ask for a shapes test to be conducted for slow colonic transit. From there they may do more tests.
The shapes test is just swallowing a few capsules and going for xray(s). Nothing like endoscopies etc.

Do try to eliminate wheat/grain products such as bread/porridge/cereal etc and see if removing these from diet helps.

I don't think so. More like gastroparesis and SCT can cause higher levels.

I have never had out of control high levels from not caring etc... I have really good control, probably too tightly controlled lower levels until such reasons as this weekend etc... I have injured my neck and the muscles are all in spasm... Causing need for painkillers which cause my stomach to sliw down an already very slow stomach.....certaiin foods like ordinary bread or any heavy dense qty of bread like products travel so slowly they stop my stomach...

All of this then causes huge distention in my lower are of my body as I look at it. The area to the left of me.. As I am.. Not as people look at me will get onto a hard mass and I can literally feel food slowly move in a solid mass and the area above the pubic area to my belly button gets. Hugely distended that I look pregnant...not good if belly is a size 8 -and normally bones will stick out..

Then my levels rise and can take about a 1/3rd more insulin initially... Until this mass is expelled it can tale upt o double doses of insulin to handle the reaction in my inner body and bloods.

This can be days... And then once stomach and bowel is emptied then levels normalise on the normal doses.

These aren't odd random highs due to an odd carb count mistake or a wrong basal or bolus...there is a pattern that builds up.

I don't know but it's worth a try, and improved sugar levels are good anyway. I'm thinking my delayed gastric emptying is caused by something unrelated to diabetes as I have T2 and it's rare for us to get the disorder unless we've had high BGs for years, and I haven't. But I think T1s can get it even if their BGs have been well controlled.

A gastroenterologist should be able to help you control gastroparesis as much as possible, and a diabetes specialist may have some tips too.

Hi,
Yes, maybe we're in the same boat? I have Gastroparesis after 40+ years of Diabetes. It started out just like you: constipation, never feeling hungry, food stuck in my throat . Then it got worse. I lost 23kg, got anemic, couldn't eat anything, vomited, a lot of gas, a lot of abdominal pain, weak muscles and so on.

I have always had quite balanced bloodsugar. HbA1c has always been between 40 and 62, not very bad. The reason I got Gastroparesis is due to genetic predisposition. In my family we all are carriers of the CF-gene, which cause a lot of problems in the stomach. Toghether with Diabetes, my first complication wasn't my eyes or anything "usual", it was my stomach that took harm first.

What does the CF stand for? What signs and symptoms would someone have in order to get tested for this gene? Several in my family have gut motility problems and I'd like to know if there is something we can pin it down to. Thanks.
