  Just to say my hair was thinning and growing finer in the year or so before my type 2 was diagnosed. it was discovered I had an under active thyroid and confirmed the diabetes. I was put on to thyroxine immediately . But then I moved on to Insulin and just metformin. Hair loss in my case definitely related to thyroid not the use of meformin
