"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Haven't had breakfast yet but will have some bacon and eggs soon. BG shot up after having a cup of milky coffee so took a dose of insulin to bring it down while I think about eating. Haddock later - probably baked with some vegetables - maybe some spices but not curried. I really can't abide...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.6 today at 05.45 - late to bed (01.45) so late up. 2 cups of tea and it was up to 6.0 but then had a cup of coffee (with milk) and it shot up to 10.7. Took some bolus insulin to bring it down because I haven't a clue what to have for breakfast so that won't be happening yet. In his...

What an awful day, @SlimLizzy. My sympathy for you and for your daughter and friend. Hope you can all recover quickly from such a shocking day. Sounds as though Kiki had a pretty awful time as well - special stroke and cuddle for her.

Was your birthday yesterday or is it today @dunelm? Yesterday sounded like a very happy, if tiring day and relaxation and coffee sounds like another happy idea for today. Whichever is the right day - HAPPY BIRTHDAY and many more of them.

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

When we first came to the Island (1974) we were warned by a local crofter that his dog was fierce and liable to kill hens and cats as well as rats and had been known to attack people. He was proud of it but nobody seemed to have complained about that. We were worried for our lovely cat, Jimmy...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Breakfast was 3 cold sausages and several cups of tea. I'm giving up making my own sausages - they taste fine but I can't get the texture right and it spoils the eating experience. 2 things to use up in the fridge - a couple of barbecued (but not on a barbecue) chicken drumsticks and some more...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Alistair has been told that he has to find a way to keep Banksie in so that he can't go wandering around the village on his own. Also when he is out of the garden, he has to be on a lead and MUZZLED. Not sure where they'd can get a muzzle big enough - the dog has a huge head. Until they can...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.4 today at 03.45. Finally got some clearane in my kitchen. Neil has loaded the car with all the boxes, paper and so on to take to the recycling plant today. I can actually, as a result, get into cupboards and put away the utensils that I've had to leave on the table and a big box of plastic...

Yes - that's why I was puzzled. I didn't think there would be any seeds in amongst the lichen. It was back again yesterday a few times. It must be using an awful lot of energy to hover there, even briefly, to collect whatever it was collecting.

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

The food at last evening's meal was a mixture of Shri Lankan and European - all very carb heavy. I ended up with a few spoons of dhal, for which I took a fairly big dose of insulin. BG still went high and was still just short of 9.0 when I went to bed, but down to 5.1 this morning, so all's...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.1 at 05.30 today. I thought it would be higher because my BG was a bit on the high side last night. After this long cold, wet spell, we have some kind of growth on the underside of our roof overhang - black kind of lichen looking. It needs to be cleaned off, when Neil can get around to it...

The car's problem wasn't in the dashboard display - it was a sensor on one of the wheels. The bearing on the left wheel needed replacing and it looks as though the other one will need it too. A bit more expensive than I had anticipated. Another hit for my bank balance, and another one to come...

Breakfast was cheddar cheese melted over RyVita. That's blown my carb ration for the day. Feeling rather nauseous again but it's only started since I got home from getting my legs bandaged, so probably not the cheese. Been feeling light headed and a bit dizzy for the last few days so decided...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.85 at 03.30 today. Leg day today. Then, later, I've been invited to a meal at the house of a young Shri Lankan couple who have moved to Stornoway recently. It will make it a long day, and I'm pretty sure I'll end up exhausted and in pain, but I'll be very happy to visit them. Can't let...

UPDATE; The garage phoned. The car is done is waiting to be picked up. Neil will catch the bus into town to pick the car up. While he's there he will go to my young friend's house and have a look at the piano to see what can be done with it.

Gennepher, I've run out of words to use to praise your sketches. They are brilliant and so full of life and character. Tired and sore today so I haven't bothered with food - too much effort. Too many boxes to climb over to get to cupboards, even to put washed dishes and pots away. Just had...
