    Vitrectomy Recovery Fears

Thank you for your reply. Can the membrane be removed with laser as you say? The distortion I have as a result of the membrane appears untouched despite the operation to remove it, and they haven't told me that they left it there. My vision is terrible in both eyes which I have gotten used to...

    Vitrectomy Recovery Fears

TLDR: Surgery didn't work. I don't feel like I'm strong enough to keep going anymore. Many months after posting about my fears about laser, I have had a vitrectomy. Aside from the horrible experience I was holding out hope that this would help. After laser a membrane grew over my retina...

    Eye Surgery soon, any experiences?

I had a sudden vitreous haemorrhage last wednesday, and this wednesday I have been booked in for laser treatment. The first course anyway. They said they're going to remove an outer layer of the retina. I still have blood obscuring my vision. How long did it take yours to fade away? How long...

    Libre Recyling

I asked the live chat on their website and this is the response I got. "Please be kindly informed that the Libre Sensors currently are not recyclable; they contain plastic, metallic and electronic elements. The applicator itself, though largely made of plastic, houses a metal needle. If you are...

    Libre Recyling

Which parts of the Libre should I put in the sharps bin and which should I recycle, or throw in the bin?

Anyone else suddenly CAN'T eat meat?

Sorry for not checking in again for a while. Nothing has helped or changed. Avoiding meat is still my best chance at not being physically ill every day. I do, however, have something I wouldn't mind some feedback on. Whenever I have a cold my stomach issues disappear completely. Not even a hint...

Anyone else suddenly CAN'T eat meat?

I could easily try that. How reliable is it? I had an endoscopy and I don't know if that would detect low stomach acid but I'll give anything a go. I would prefer vegetables to be the culprit though I don't mean to be dismissive of your condition. Any food interfering with your life is an...

Anyone else suddenly CAN'T eat meat?

I did the gastric emptying study where I ate irradiated porridge and that only showed very minor delay. I had a colonoscopy with a biopsy that came back all fine but I don't know if that would track emptying. I'm feeling more and more with the bloating and gas that it is lower down than the...

Anyone else suddenly CAN'T eat meat?

I don't think I was ever tested for how much acid I had in my stomach, or enzymes. I had a gastric emptying study. I'm guessing that because they didn't check they don't think that's what is wrong?

Anyone else suddenly CAN'T eat meat?

Sorry for not replying, I forgot all about this post. I have never been bitten by a tick. Thank you for your comments. I'm fine with bread, dairy and all sorts. My reaction is more like on/off where if something upsets me it really causes problems, there isn't a mild reaction to any food...

Anyone else suddenly CAN'T eat meat?

I've had poorly controlled type 1 diabetes for a decade. 3 years ago I suddenly started having severe gastric distress that has only gotten worse. I just woke up one day after happily eating meat for 22 years. I've been going to various hospitals to figure out what is wrong, and most just say...

Do I need to report retinopathy?

That suggests that I don't need to, which is encouraging. Finding out recently that having diabetes will make my license expire every 3 years is a pain but since my eyes are monitored under diabetes at least it doesn't sound like I will have to be subjected to questions about them independently...

Do I need to report retinopathy?

I have not had any treatment, advice on treatment or any information that suggests I will need treatment. It's not whether it would prohibit me from driving, just that the website is very unclear about whether they need informing of something that isn't an issue yet. It says retinopathy forms...

Is it too late for me?

I know this was posted a very long time ago but I just joined and I am in almost the exact same situation. Diagnosed at 16, not told much, now 27 and still don't have a grip on my diabetes. Depression and anxiety make me feel like I'm going to die anyway and I'm going to be miserable with these...

Do I need to report retinopathy?

I'm 27. Type 1 diabetic for 11 years, reapplying for my provisional license. I see a diabetes consultant for my care, and have an annual checkup at the eye hospital to check the condition of my eyes. I've had the forms filled out for ages but was waiting on my eye checkup today before I send...
