I set mine manually to 3.9 to 8.5. I had read somewhere about keeping below 8.5 but I can't remember where now and that seemed more reasonable as I also thought 10 seemed too high. I initially found I checked my levels religiously but now I find I feel more relaxed but appreciate the overview...

    Eye discomfort.

I had something similar recently and booked an eye appointment at Specsavers. You have to fill in a form prior to your visit and they phoned me for further details and then got me into the soonest eye health clinic (within 24 hours). They did a full eye health check and it was done on the NHS...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

By the time I actually got to see the DN I had made the decision to self fund a libre2 (T2) and had over a weeks data. During our appointment she never mentioned testing till I brought it up at the end and said I had a CGM and offered to show her the data. Her response was she had never seen...

5.4 for me this morning. Pleased with that. FBG is gradually coming down which is good.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.4 at 8.00 this morning. Climbed to over 8.0 during the next hour and still not back to this yet (currently 6.9) at almost midday. Still fasting too. I have to admit to finding the "feet on the floor" phenomena very irritating!

    Same food different reaction

Thank you @golden oldie that is actually really useful to know and helpful for me to understand I can’t control everything (important as a massive control freak). Was actually wondering if I had done something wrong. So I shall take an average and say it’s ok

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.5 at 06.00 this morning. Went back to sleep and 7.1 at 08.00. Struggling to get my FBG down although can vary anywhere between 5.8 and 7.3.

    Same food different reaction

Unfortunately I can't exercise due to severe arthritis in both knees so having to do this with diet alone. My numbers are slowly improving although FBG isn't always wonderful (anywhere between 5.4 and 7.0) but general trend is down I think. So basically it's a ‍♀️ and just log what happens in...

    Feeling ashamed with new diagnosis

Thank you so much! Really appreciated reading this, this morning. Definitely still having a few wobbles but not letting them put me off. My friend said to me yesterday that when I do something I tend to do it all out and I think she is probably right. It's not going to go away so if I didn't...

    Feeling ashamed with new diagnosis

Thank you everyone. I am feeling more positive. I have told only immediate family & a couple of close friends. I don’t feel the need currently to tell anyone else. My head is still spinning a bit and I seem to go up & down a lot! However all the advice on here has been amazing and I feel like...

    Same food different reaction

Recently diagnosed so still learning. I had an almost identical dinner this evening: meatballs in passata with cauliflower rice, broccoli & and few peas. Also had cabbage last time. First time I had this my reading 2hrs post food was +2.5, this evening it was just +0.5. Any ideas why? Thanks all.

    Net vs Total carb

Thank you. So when using apps like Carb Manager it’s OK to follow the net carbs and not dig into the stats to find the total carbs? As this is basically what I’m looking at on the on the packaging anyway?

    Net vs Total carb

Which should I be looking at? I thought I was looking at total carbs but I have recently learnt that UK packaging actually shows net carbs. I’m a recently diagnosed T2 and just learning what works for my body, but now a bit confused. What should I be checking and how do I know what the package...

    Full of anxiety (newly diagnosed)

I wanted to chip in as a newbie. I was very overwhelmed too. However I was sure I didn’t want medication so I have gone low carb. I have always eaten a very high carb diet, even when on one of my many (many) diets. I thought it would be really hard and was so worried I would find it hard to...

Don't involve yourself in the blame game.

Thank you so much for this post/thread. I really, really needed this. Newly diagnosed (a month ago) as T2. Was a shock as was unaware I was even being tested for it. I am big, have always struggled with my weight & food, constantly yo-yoing. My overwhelming emotion on diagnosis was shame. Shame...

    More questions

A follow up to my earlier post. I have seen the diabetic nurse and tbh although she was very nice the whole appointment was less than helpful. The nurse never even discussed testing/levels/ etc or really made any helpful/useful suggestions. No advice on what to do just signposting me to other...

    Feeling ashamed with new diagnosis

Thank you. I have always been a sweet tooth carb eater and tried to choose low fat options (because of my weight) although not always very successfully. This is going to take some getting used to, to get my head round all this. Thank heavens for a forum like this!
