Sugar spikes 2 or more hours after eating

I follow a 16:8 eating plan and try not to eat past 8pm at night. My last ‘meal’ of the day is a bowl of Greek yogurt with some seeds, nuts and homemade (sugar free) applesauce. This doesn’t tend to spike my sugar and remain fairly stable throughout the night. My carb heavy meal is around 3-4pm...

Sugar spikes 2 or more hours after eating

This always confuses me as my sugar spikes at the 1.5/2 hour mark no matter what I eat, so the rule of ‘under 8.5 two hours after eating’ never applies to me. Surely then I would be looking at under 8.5 three hours after eating based on when my spikes happen (I wear a libre 2 so know this is my...

    Not going barefoot

I’ve been living with diabetes for 17 years and am pretty much a hobbit in the summer!!!! If your blood sugar is under control and you don’t have any foot problems, I don’t see why not. I suppose the reasoning behind the advice is it takes longer for diabetics to heal? And like mentioned above...

    Forxiga

Hi, I’ve been on it since January and the peeing definitely does settle down. I also never got any bladder infections from it (knock on wood) and eat about 120 grams of carbs a day. I know there are other members on this forum who are low carb on it and haven’t had any issues - maybe they can...

    Absolutely tired and hopeless

Yes! Much higher food prices in Canada and not good quality at all! I’m Canadian, but have lived in the UK for 10 years. My parents and brother are still there and my mom tells me every week how expensive everything is! $7 for a bloody cauliflower (which is about £4)!!!

The worst food ingredient for diabetics

If you can stomach it (I like it), Plenish soya milk is fantastic.

The worst food ingredient for diabetics

Rude health and plenish are the only 2 brands with no other added preservatives, etc. They are expensive, but always on sale at at least one supermarket.

    Gaining weight - glyclazide?

I was on Gliclizide from 2007 until this past January. Could never lose weight. Live a very healthy lifestyle, running 3x a week and weight training 2x a week. Eat fairly well most of the time and was always completely depressed that my body didn’t match my lifestyle. Finally came off gliclizide...

Type 2 When do you take Dapagliflozin

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes, I’m starting to think it’s better to take in the morning so it works throughout the day whilst eating. After a couple months on the drug, I never really struggled with getting up to go to the toilet in the night (did at first). My decision to take...

Type 2 When do you take Dapagliflozin

Let me rephrase; I have read the leaflet and know you can take it at any time of day, but what I want to know is, based on others experiences, when’s the best time to take it to keep glucose levels as stable as possible?

Type 2 When do you take Dapagliflozin

Hi, Would love to know when people take their Dapagliflozin? I’m a type 2, was prescribed dapa in January, but didn’t get any direction on how to take it. At the moment, I take 1000mg of metformin in the morning and another 1000mg of metformin at dinner with 10mg of Dapagliflozin. What are your...
