    Sugar replacement

I use Pure Via as a sugar substitute where necessary; they offer quite a few variations, including Demerara, which is good in coffee. I've not yet used it in a cake recipe, but no-one noticed when I made Delia's apple almond pudding - basically a combination of ground almonds, eggs, butter, and...

    Reversing T2 With Supplements

Call me cynical, but I do tend to be dubious when the first post from a new member extols the virtues of a wonder cure for T2.

    Blood pressure after dietary changes

Well done on your BG level.. Your BP reading is what's described as optimal, so your level of BP medication seems to be spot on and not in need of titration. A reading of or under 90/60 is low.

Type 2 Should I be checking blood sugar levels

omg just started having porridge and blood sugars rocketed

All is not lost; once you can get your head round a low carb diet, it does get easier. This might help with your thoughts on food: https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html Also, a blood glucose meter is recommended to help you identify the foods you can tolerate.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

A quick query please: What are the little chocolate pots from Sainsbury's? The ones I've found on their website seem to be too "carby" (or maybe that's just my interpretation.)

    Nuts!

I snack on unsalted nuts, but because peanuts are technically legumes I tend to give them a wide berth.

    Testing tolerance for different foods

Homemade bolognese is infinitely better and has far fewer carbs than anything that comes out of a packet. I make a huge pot of it to portion and freeze. It makes a quick meal when served with 60g of wholewheat pasta (raw weight), topped with grated Parmesan or your choice of cheese. That’s...

    Testing tolerance for different foods

I'm probably asking the bleedin' obvious, but did you check out the carb content in the bolognese sauce mix?

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.8 for me this morning. Yorkshire pudding with rare roast beef is a thing of beauty; it really doesn't belong with any other roasts - especially the Christmas turkey. (Just IMO )

How much weight have YOU lost?

That statement should be broadcast and used as a prelude to everything written as weight loss guidance. The food treats culture is instilled from a very young age, "If you're a good boy/girl, I'll buy you some sweeties". (The number of positive reviews on Tripadvisor, etc for eateries that...

First and foremost, buy a BG meter. In the meantime, would you like to tell us a little more about your diagnosis (BG level) and what you normally eat? That information will help others to help you.
