Hello and welcome. I've seen lots of people post on behalf of loved ones so no problem there :) This must be so frustrating and stressful for you because you can see that he needs to make changes but he's digging in his heels.
I had never heard of Herbalife so looked it up. There are lots of...
The LCHF diet does involve dieters having a lot of faith in what people are saying it can do. The diet goes against just about everything we've been told to do. For people with high cholesterol or problems with their kidney function, it's even harder.
I'm doing it and it's working for me (lost...
Yes diabetes is described as a chronic illness. Basically an illness that can be controlled but not cured (some of us are trying to change that definition! )
I had a similar issue with my doctor. He was pleased I had managed to get my BG level down and I told him that was because I had learnt what to eat and what to avoid through testing. As soon as I mentioned testing his eyes widened and he told me I shouldn't test because that would cause me...
Netter, there is also a thread in the LCHF area of the forum that is all about vegetarian recipes and ideas.

I think I'll go for soda water and lime (or maybe sneak some squash in )
I don't drink alcohol normally (rarely I may have wine) and in the past when out socialising I've normally had orange or cranberry juice. I can't have those now
Has anyone any suggestions for diabetic friendly non-alcoholic drinks when I'm out? At home and work I drink coffee and...
Well done on getting your hbA1c down!
My fasting readings can also be high sometimes but other times they are ok and I haven't established the cause of the difference yet.
I had thought I wouldn't even mention it at work, just quietly get on with it. But my work colleagues are a nosey bunch (we are a small office and have worked together for years) and me passing up the 10 am KitKat couldn't go unnoticed as it wasn't like me at all! Then all I had for lunch was...
Also, just today I was linked to a page via an email from my GP that gives the advice "Ten Steps to Eating Well" from Diabetes UK and this diet tells you to eat starch, mentions more fruit etc. If I wasn't on this forum, I would be following that advice and would probably have high BG by now!
Thank you all of you.
I hope that anyone newly diagnosed gives this lifestyle/diet a chance. It isn't easy but it isn't as hard as I thought it would be. The difficulty at first for me was finding alternatives to foods I was avoiding. But now I have a routine that makes it easier. I also test...
