    Type 2 Pancreatic Parasites

I was previously controlled by keto for more than 2 years. It just suddenly got worse. No fatty pancreas or liver according to a scan.

    Type 2 Pancreatic Parasites

Yes. My insulin is very low end of normal when last tested. Endo thinks mody possible but a type not yet identified.

    Type 2 Pancreatic Parasites

Thanks. Yes all checked and I’ve discussed it previously here. Just wondered if any of our international members have heard anything. I worked in Asia for a few years prior to diagnosis so that was the link that sparked my interest. I have several friends who picked up liver flukes in their time...

    Type 2 Pancreatic Parasites

I’ve been a bit quiet on here trying to get my head around the fact my diabetes is out of control and I need insulin now. My endo is very confused by me but has no answers. Anyway, I’ve been doing a lot of reading and parasites keeps cropping up as a possible cause of unexplained diabetes...

MODY - anyone else out there?

I was recently tested for Mody but the results were negative. My endo still thinks I am but a mutation/deletion not yet discovered. There is a very good Facebook group which covers all the Mody types. Mostly US which is interesting as they seem further ahead than the UK with research.

    Newly diagnosed T2

Out of interest are you vegetarian because you are or is this recent? Asking because I was when I was diagnosed but after returning to meat and other animal products I reduced my Hba1c from 112 to 35 within three months. Realised my vegetarian way of eating was very high carb.

    MODY testing ...

I’m in a similar position. Awaiting test results next month. There are a couple of good Facebook groups depending on which Mody you might be. There are a few people that have two types! Keep us posted.

I got “oh, you aren’t a rolly polly” from an endo!!!!

Type 2: Low carb cannot repair damaged beta cells

What if you don’t need to lose weight? What about thin T2s?

Waitrose also sell Livlife bread which is 3.8 g carbs a slice. Small but filling.

    DVLA

@searley are you doubting what I am saying? I can assure you that when I called to inform my insurance company that I was diabetic (no meds) they out my premium up by £28, around 10%.

T2 (apparently) but being treated as T1!

Could the nurse have meant “turns out to be” instead of “turns into”. ?

I told my insurance company I had diabetes (no insulin at the time) and they put my premium up around 10%!

Numb fingers on wakening up in the mornings

Sounds like me. I find it’s because I have my wrist tucked under in a strange position. It feels like a ‘dead arm’ that you get if you’ve slept oddly. A wiggle and the blood supply returns but hope it’s nothing more than that for you. If I try to ensure my wrists aren’t bent when I sleep, I’m...

    Type 1 Carb addiction

That is so true. Before my diagnosis I always felt negative and bad tempered. When I got my BG down I’m a much nicer version of myself and much more positive and determined!

    Frustrated

I’m the same. My control was fine until COVID and I stopped going to the gym. Walking just doesn’t do the same.

    Quick question

what snacks did you get/snacking on? You’d be better off getting low carb snacks rather than low cal snacks as they are usually very high in carbs. In answer to your other question re testing ketones, in my area it is usual to give you blood testing strips to test your ketone level if you...

    Birthday advice

Why does it have to involve food? Your possible treats are limited due to covid but you could give her a pamper session or a non food gift. Watch a film together or cook a lovely low carb meal. Pleasure shouldn’t necessarily involve sweetness..... apart of course your being sweet. Hope she has...
