    Denial and Despair

The trouble is @Grace04 banana and mango are not low carb at all. Satsumas are 5-10 carbs a piece and as a type 1 they are very good for getting my levels up if I’m a little low. They show up on my Libre going up like a rocket. 40g blueberries and 100g FF Greek yoghurt gives me a 10 carb...

    Pizza night!

I don’t know scientifically re protein spikes, but simply I would suggest for a Type 2 those spikes are slow enough for the body to cope with and correct. For a Type 1 those spikes still need dealing with by injecting insulin. I know if I eat a small piece of plain haddock with broccoli and...

    Type 2 Libre 2 sensors

Like @Lakeslover my question has to be why on earth can you not use the other one? Then when that runs out you put on the replacement.

Annoying symptom - What can I do about this?

Let’s hope you are in the lucky enough position to never have to take insulin. For those of us that it keeps alive we are very very grateful for it. Plus if we so choose you can eat a totally unrestricted diet. I choose to be moderate but many don’t and manage very well.

Low carb rice alternatives - non cauliflower

Strange question, have you actually tried it, or is it just because you don’t like cauliflower? Apologies if yes. If not you may be surprised it tastes very little like boiled cauliflower.

It was in the main stream media. I haven’t had an individual email but did investigate and yes we are eligible. Wether I would want to risk taking it is another matter.

    Humiliation at Manchester airport

Went through a body scanner and hand luggage through the X Ray on 4 occasions. Zero problems. All working just as well on the other side.

    Loosing weight

@Linskic Ah your second things clarified something for me. You intimate your weight loss started some time ago, yet 3 days ago you cut the carbs after a type 2 diagnosis. Glad you have an appointment today, it could be Type 1, push for more extensive tests to get a proper diagnosis.

    Covid treatments

Err this has been the case from the beginning when this medication was found to be useful.

    Testing

@bitofait what did you do the day before your low result meal? Where you exercising, working, rushing around shopping? What did you do on that day prior to your higher level meal. All those things impact results. Food is one part of it.

    Treatment

Welcome @Funsize1062 Am also a type 1. As I dose insulin from either a CGM or glucose monitor I am obviously doomed if it is inaccurate. Ridiculous statement designed to put you off as they will not pay for them. Keep testing away. You are not too high above the diagnosis threshold, so sorting...

    Visiting UK - which cgm?

You should be able to ask for items to be looked at and swabbed separately rather than go through the X-ray. I know people do that at airports here. Have a great time in in the UK @EllieM

    Low sugar

Next time stick to pure sugar like Dextrose/Jelly babies to get sugar to rise quickly. You will hopefully be sorted now. But those pretzels wouldn’t sort you out quick enough. Bananas can be useful in small amounts when going low but not hypo, but will be slower acting. Sugar all the way for...

How many carbs do you have max in a meal

Just to point out this is on a type 1 thread.

    Newbie terrified

I’m afraid so. Especially that sort of exercise. Try having a small low carb snack first. But the Adrenalin rush, like foot on the floor applies with exercise. I’m a Type 1 early morning serious swimmer who downs a spoon of Greek Yoghurt and 1-2 units of insulin first. I still get out of the...

    Healthier Sugar Snacks for Hypos

I have to admit when hypoing the fact that my go to Jelly Babies/Dextrose may not be healthy doesn’t come into the equation anywhere. It’s got to be sugar based which is not healthy anyway but pretty critical. The point is, hypos are not healthy and far more worrying than the sugar treating it...

LIBRE IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS

Me me and me. I occasionally get a similar message but rarely now I use my I phone. I just close the page, reopen and it usually scans. Still quicker than a blood test rigmarole.
