    frustrated!

Ditto! It drives me up the wall. When I see people talking about going for walks after meals to help with control I feel jealous. The act of moving puts my levels up. Something to do with adrenaline I believe. If I’m up 2/3 times in the night it makes control difficult.

    Libre 2

You just scan the new sensor. It may come up saying it is incompatible but should also say do you want to scan new sensor. You have to say yes and then rescan. Every fortnight I wear 2 overnight so the new one beds in ready. I regularly go to scan the new one accidentally so have to quickly...

    Type 1 Freestyle Libre

One actual sensor failure about two years ago and two I’ve knocked off. Had a couple of L1s with erratic numbers in the early days, which Abbott requested back. I’ve been wearing nearly six years.

    Freestyle libre readings

Yet my consultant is no longer interested in HbA1c and scrutinises my TIR and above and below.

    Hypo

@susansteven so sorry you had this experience. Not at all pleasant. Can I suggest you get yourself some sort of bag/container that you keep all diabetic stuff in stocked up and ready to go at the drop of a hat. I long ago put all daily diabetes stuff in a pink childrens lunch bag. It goes...

How often do have to change all your ratios?

Like@jackois I find I need more basal in spring than summer. Like @ellie M DP is sometimes there, sometimes not and like @Antje77 the same ratios for food over a sustained period is just a pipe dream. I wing it every day. Some days are more frustrating than others, but I take each one afresh.

    Freestyle libre readings

As a type 1 that loves this technology and is helping me balance my levels every day I do not worry about the difference in blood glucose readings. Yes it is not 100% accurate but I think too much belief in blood glucose meters is also misguided. I have 2 of those, both calibrated with testing...

question about FreeStyle Optimum ketone sticks readings

seconds) Search Results Featured snippet from the web If you do a blood ketone test: lower than 0.6mmol/L is a normal reading. 0.6 to 1.5mmol/L means you're at a slightly increased risk of DKA and you should test again in 2 hours. 1.6 to 2.9mmol/L means you're at an increased risk of DKA and...

    Libre

@Barbie3 I would be asking my hospital team to intervene with your Gp to ensure you have at least 2 extra as a fall back. Once using Libre full time it is unacceptable not to have enough spares. Especially as they often slash blood glucose strips on prescription. I’m down to 50 a month these...

    Type 1 Freestyle Libre

I think it’s more the body and not the technology unfortunately.

I use a phone, it works just fine.

Type 1 Newly diagnosed, few questions

Welcome @Gardevoir -No insulin is too much if it is what you need. My needs are smallish, my brothers the exact opposite. We need what we need to stay healthy. As time proceeds you will settle into your own doses. -I just switch arms with my Libre 2 and just move up/down very slightly. Been...

    Ketone meters

The expiry date can indeed be short. I tend to fulfil my Ketone prescription of 10 strips yearly. I spoke to the chemist about the expiry date and as the Abbott ones are individually wrapped she said add another 6 months, they will be more than fine. I know they are expensive, so have only ever...

Started Metformin a couple of weeks ago

Motezumas 100% with chocolate niblets. Absolute favourite of mine. A couple of bits a day after lunch. Big treat as it’s expensive.

    Hospital/Gp

They can indeed see them. Had a receptionist tell me yes she could see them, but no she couldn’t tell me. Rang the hospital. They could see them but also wouldn’t tell me as they had been sent for the Gp to tell me. Nearly a year later I still don’t know what the outcome to some very expensive...

Libre 2 - failure at first hurdle?

@Ladynijo I would cover if swimming a lot. I put one on at the start of a sensor and leave In place. Have been doing so for about 6 years.

    Newbie seeking help?

Try using thighs and buttocks too. You shouldn’t just be injecting into one area.

What Hba1c level do you aim for?

@Old’un I’m pleased to say I have a consultant who is much more interested in TIR than HbA1c

Libre 2 - failure at first hurdle?

Yet I’ve been using about 6 years changing every 2 weeks and in all that time I’ve only had 1 non starter and 2 failures.
