    Interpreting rises on a graph

I definitely have problems with the basal differential between night and day. Only a pump would sort it but I’m not eligible. I just do correction doses throughout the day or split my insulin if I have a larger carb meal.

Blood reading go high after exercise !

Afraid so. It tends to go up or remain stubbornly the same. My go tos for reduction in glucose. are vacuuming, gardening and looking after two grandchildren if my experiences yesterday were anything to go by. I ate my weight in Jelly Babies as I don’t think I sat down once.

Blood reading go high after exercise !

I’m another that needs insulin before exercise. My morning swim before breakfast always needs a dose. I see all these people advocating a walk after lunch to keep levels in check. For me it has the opposite effect. Very annoying.

New T1 needs help with highs and lows please

Perhaps treat your lows with a bit of quick acting sugar rather an oat cake. It will get you up quicker rather than dropping into a bad hypo. Definitely get yourself onto a basal bolus treatment. As I said earlier a mixed insulin is now not advised for type ones. Constant snacking means you are...

    Newly diagnosed and super confused

It’s very sad that you were not immediately given support in the first few weeks. Following hospital admission I was in clinic next morning, hitched up with a DN who rang me up every day for a fortnight changing doses as we went. Then she was available by email or phone for questions or help. I...

New T1 needs help with highs and lows please

I’m interested why the nurse put you on to that particular mixed insulin. In the NICE guidelines for type one it states that you should no longer be put on that type of insulin. But straight onto the basal bolus regime which is far more flexible. Perhaps be worth questioning.

    Blood sugar staying high

Not surprised RN25 having just read through this thread. All the red flags were there and I feel your Gp has been very remiss in not taking this more seriously. Hopefully the insulin will make you feel better and you can move forwards and enjoy your new job.

Sticking to the two as long as possible. An extra day upsets my fine tuned changing arrangements.

Tessts and more tests and even more tests

Weird! Any tests I have are all done at the same time. Bar the retinal scan. Feet etc are done at a Gp at my convienience. Consultant appointments yearly by phone.

Carbohydrate Counting... Is it Effective or Necessary?

@ausGeoff I’m a Type one. Oats and similar are my enemy too. Far too insulin heavy. In my mind if they require large doses and difficult management they cannot be doing me any good. No matter what the experts say.

    Considering a continuous monitoring device.

As a type one it is now a critical part of my management and I wouldn’t want to be without it. Though after last night and too many wretched alarms we fell out. Most are very accurate for me and truth be told no two blood glucose machines give the same reading. I’ve tested them. I can have one...

    Cyclical changes.

Anyway had a good morning with my friend. Both just had a coffee, sat for two hours in beautiful sunshine. Though outside it is bitter.

    Cyclical changes.

My in use insulin is just in my kit bag. Or in the case of my basal in the medical drawer so I don’t get them mixed up. I know once out of the fridge you shouldn’t keep putting them back in.

    Cyclical changes.

Ok so am feeling fed up this week. Absolutely nothing I am doing is working well for me. And am feeling pretty tired with it all. I will be fine though, as I have eventually realised that for me this wretched condition is cyclical. I have a week like this, then a week of just constant highs...

    Blood pressure

I would also suggest the [emoji638][emoji640] hr cuff. My husband has extreme anxiety. Even me doing his blood pressure without letting him see the results didn’t help the panicky high levels. Told he was going to have to take blood pressure tablets they tried the [emoji638][emoji640] hour cuff...
