What do you eat for hypos? Which is your frecuency?

If my CGM rings at 4.2 I eat one jelly baby and wait. It is usually enough. Some days that can be a few times, others not at all. It usually takes me to 5 where I then remain. Anything less than 4, 2 Jelly babies. Always pure sugar with nothing else so it works rapidly and doesn’t give me a huge...

Will Stormy Daniels eventually bring Trump down

I’m sorry, I couldn’t care one way or the other. The less I hear about him the better.

I've recently joined this forum and thought I'd introduce myself.

Welcome @BPR As a type 1 I do not count non starchy veg in the carb count for the purposes of injecting insulin. I expect type 2s would probably count them.

    Hospital Retinopathy Clinic Appointments

Fried in oil mushrooms or raw

I love raw mushrooms @EllieM Have been eating them like that since 1987 when given as part of a salad in a restaurant.

    Spiralizing

Have the OXO hand held 3 in 1 myself. It’s now 5 years old and still going strong. Easy to clean, does the job. £18 on Amazon.

    Ketones testing.

As a type 1 you should have access to proper blood glucose testing strips, mainly for sickness purposes. I found that out after an A+E visit. I very rarely use them as they are expensive and would feel terribly guilty using them without a very real concern for ketones. Your Gp should prescribe.

    Thought oh wise ones...

And there you have the answer to your hunger. Breastfeeding makes you ravenous. Been there years ago. I am sure when you cease, your hunger levels will be on a more even keel. Just try and sate that hunger in a sensible manner. As regards the blood glucose numbers. I would relax a little more...

Freestyle Libre 2 sensors worse than before? (failure thread).

I’ve been wearing Libre for over 5 years now and have only ever had 2 actual failures. Knocked a couple off in the early days (now cover) and get the occasional one that is a little out. But nothing I cannot accommodate in my every day judgements. From what I have read on Libre threads I am...

“Rapid-acting” insulin taking hours to work…

Hi @Judith 123 if your DSN was capable of doing her job correctly, instead of criticising you, she would look carefully at your Libre records. Then take note of when and how much you’d injected and been able to see in real time the effects of the Fiasp. Fiasp as most who take it are aware, does...

Type 2 CGM an OTT solution for me?

In a word ‘no!’ You are using available tools to take control of your health. Well done I say.

Type 1 Why does perfectly good blood sugar (steady for hours - let's say 4 hours) then just drop to hypo as soon as you lie bed on a bed!? Haha

Yes indeed I do. I regularly have my alarm going off 30 minutes after getting into bed. I find getting up in the middle of the night causes it to jump about 3mmols. I’m not on Lantus and it isn’t a compression low.

    Type 3 / Type 3C

My parents 83 and 90 still knead their own bread every other day. They buy their flour by the sackful. They still cook from scratch. Lots of fresh haddock (straight off the docks) and unprocessed meat. With a variety of fresh veg. Up until recently they picked blackberries every year and have an...

    New Metre

I’m a type 1 and wouldn’t touch a banana with a barge pole these days. Far too much insulin required. Not worth the effect they have.

Insulin seems to not be doing anything

@Quinapril is there any reason why you are not wearing a CGM all the time. This would alert you to lows in the night, so taking that concern away.

Type 1 CGM which is best

I did a L3 trial and loved it. M8 d you I don’t have issues with my 2. Loved not having to scan. It was very accurate for me.

    low carb/keto and insulin ratio

Your last point @Jon Mors would point to a clue for me-her tummy pain started once she was diagnosed with type 1- I would be questioning how your daughter feels about this whammy of a diagnosis and new way of life at the age of 10. It is just the age (I worked with 10 year olds for years) when...

Welcome @Matt2023 have just commented on your Lantus thread. Keep the questions coming there are always plenty of people with answers/suggestions. If you don’t want to say exactly where you are that’s fine. But it does sound tantalisingly interesting.

Splitting Lantus - is this not supposed to be done anymore??

@Matt2023 absolutely fine and very common. When I was on Lantus it was recommended by my consultant. It definitely doesn’t last which is why many people are moved to Toujeo or Tresiba.
