    5 weeks after diagnosis

I'm continuing to lose weight. I'm now lighter than I have been for a number of years. I still have at least 7 stone to go so still a long road ahead. (BMI over 40 still) It's just a pity I waited till the T2 diagnosis before taking control of my lifestyle. I have my first assessment...

Re: How were you at diagnosis? I was diagnosed in early December 2010 at 52 as a T2. My mother has to see the doctor as she has failed the glucose tolerance test. She has enjoyed good heath for all her life. She is 76 and not happy if diabetes is confirmed.

    Stress and bg levels

Just a observation. I have been stressed out over the last 2 days with work issues. Today my bg levels have been high. 8.9 before breakfast and have not come down below 7.9 all day. Just tested 4 hours after lunch and its 8.9. Could the stress be causing the elevated reading? I also take...

hypo at work - told to get back to work by boss

Good luck with your case. If I treated any of my staff in this way I would be rightly dismissed. Everyone has a right to respect in and out of the workplace. I have seen the effect of hypos on people and know you have to treat urgently.

    Work Health Questionaire

I'm a manager and I do most of the interviews with applicants. You can no longer have health questions on application forms but I don't know about heath questionnaires. My company HR department and my line manager know of my health issues and I do get understanding and support. I had a...

    5 weeks after diagnosis

Thanks to both for the encouraging posts. I have a long way to go on weight loss but I have made a start. I go on a diabetes awareness course starting early next month. That should help, as this site and forum has.

    Burgen Soya / Linseed Bread

Before diagnosis as a T2 I would eat lots of bread. Now I have a a maximum of 2 slices of whole meal. I'm going to try this Burgen bread today. My local Asda sell it at £1 a loaf. I want to get my carbs intake down.

Just thought I would give a update on my progress so far. I'm taking 1 500mg slow release Metaformin twice a day. I had the runs for the first week or so but they soon cleared up. The metallic taste I got in my mouth has stopped in the last week or so. I'm measuring my blood sugars and...
