Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I'm sorry! I keep forgetting things aren't like they are here everywhere else! That is very interesting though.

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

Hi! Yes, I know our health system is pretty crazy! I know it sounds silly but I'm only in my early 20's and up until I was diagnosed my dad pretty much handled anything medical for me! So it has been an interesting process!!!

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I see! I'm sorry! I did not realize that. That is too bad! I think testing is so very important! Is it expensive to buy out of pocket?

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

@ Is this really true? I am diagnosed Type 2, am not on insulin, and I'm not sure what qualifies as strong drugs, but I was given a meter (well, I paid for it). I couldn't imagine not testing!

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

That seems so silly to me! Considering I paid out of pocket for my meter and pay for my test strips! How are people supposed to know how foods affect them. or what their normal patterns are if they don't test! I can definitely see where someone could get stressed because of the readings, but I...

Don't know what to do now

Hang in there! It is definitely disheartening at first! Just keep trying, and make sure you keep in contact with your doctor(s) and don't be afraid to ask questions and voice your concerns! I was only diagnosed a few months ago, and this forum has been a real life saver! It helps to know there...

    Type 2 and hypos

Hi, I know this thread was initially for a question about hypos after having a specific surgery. I have not had any surgeries and have only been diagnosed since February of this year, and the last month or so I have been having very frequent and severe hypos. I am currently only on pills. No...

    Bad day on metformin

This also happened to me when I was first diagnosed in February of this year. I forgot to eat when I took my morning dose of Metformin & I had the worst stomach pains afterwards. Now I make sure I eat every time I take them!

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

My doctor said to only test once a day, or just to test whenever I am feeling out of it. Why would they not want people to test!?

What friends & family should know..

Yes, she is aware of all my medications. She is the one who prescribed all of them. She hasn't really warned me of the side effects of any of them though. I just kind of found out for myself.

What friends & family should know..

Its a stressful process.. But I am getting there. I recently switched insurance providers so I am having to find someone in network. Many people have suggested seeing an endocrinologist.. is that usually something you need a referral for? I know it sounds ridiculous, but prior to finding out...

What friends & family should know..

I know! Like I said I have not had any issues up until recently with being low. But I have had several readings under 50, and the lowest was 33! I'm on metformin & glipizide and a few other medications not for diabetes. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, or if its just because my...

I'm on metformin & glipizide as well as some other medications that are not for diabetes. And I have had several readings of 50 and some even lower that that. The lowest was 33.

What friends & family should know..

Yes! I recently had a pretty scary experience and came to the realization that no one knows what to do in these situations and being that I am so new to it I am not really 100% sure what to do either. I have been having a hard time recognizing when I am getting low as well. Up until recently I...

Hi there! I am a new member of this wonderful website, and I am also fairly new to diabetes. I was just diagnosed as Type 2 in February and I am still learning how to properly manage everything. My friends and family are also new to this and I have just been wondering what sort of things should...
