Type 2 hypo on Freestyle libre 2 plus?

Somehow I was never able to extract blood, so no, I don't have a monitor. Otherwise obviously I would compare. When I was in hospital, they did finger prick testing. My Libre was between same and 2 points lower. I don't feel great, but nothing like the catastrophe on Saturday when I was too...

Type 2 hypo on Freestyle libre 2 plus?

My doctor sends me Freestyle libre, so I use it, but irregularly. Practice nurse attaches it. On Saturday, I had an appointment to get it attached, but I felt so unwell I couldn't even walk the 5 minutes to the surgery, took a cab, hoping they'd also see me about it. They wouldn't. Took a cab...

    HBA1C results - not great

Have you tried Metformin Slow Release? I didn't get on with Metformin either, but I'm fine with SR. Please don't beat yourself up. Your A1c did drop, albeit just a bit, and 65 isn't totally horrible. You'll get there.

    Help

A belated thank you for your response. I had morphine for pain relief and of course had to try to keep it controlled. Please see my reply to Pipp today, which is meant for you all.

    Help

A delayed thank you. Please see my reply to Pipp for my comments which apply to you all. I would add that I ordered a cheese sandwich but it had one slice of processed cheese. I don't think 3 would have been an improvement! x

    Help

A belated thank you for your reply. I was in hospital for 7 days. I chose the hospital menu over semi-starvation and haven't felt well enough to respond to the kind replies, including yours. I am back in hospital now, this time for minor surgery, so will survive menu. This time I brought...

Observations of T2 diabetic in hospital, including on Freestyle libre 2 plus

I'm in hospital (again), having to put up with the high-carb hospital menu. This time I have a CGM, so can monitor effects, which are not good, to say the least. For breakfast, I had one slice of buttered brown toast and baked beans, trying to drain off the sauce. Also half of a low-carb protein...

    Help

Thank you Pipp. It's comforting to know you were in a similar situation and will be again. I have large staghorn kidney stones on both sides and the other side will have to be done. I'm bleeding profusely, and can't even move for the pain, so suspect I won't be home soon, but I'll accept the...

    Help

I am in hospital following major surgery. After morning surgery, I was too poorly to eat or drink. The next day, breakfast was just carbs. I tried to explain that I was on a low carb diet - I'm not trying to lose weight, just to control my blood sugar. Cheese, eggs or any protein was not on the...

Which meds need to be stopped before surgery

It seems absurd to have to post this question, but I am having major surgery in 2 days from now and I don't know which of my meds, or which food, to stop ahead of time, and when. I don't even know if my operation if morning or afternoon, just I was told it could be about 3 hours. I can't get...

    Libre 2 plus fell off

Thanks but I already threw it away. They didn't say when I spoke with them.

Does anyone get tested for insulin resistance?

It's true, the NHS is very constrained, and I appreciate that, but I wonder if greater understanding and spending on preventative medicine would save money in the end. For example, in my experience of a check up with the diabetic nurse, feet are only tested for absence of sensation. Pins and...

Does anyone get tested for insulin resistance?

When I was diagnosed, I was actually thin, and I'm not muscular - just my legs a bit, but still thin. I suspect my threshold for glucose storage was very low, not that I understood it then. I asked my surgery for HOMA-IR for insulin resistance to be added to my blood test. They said it's not...

Does anyone get tested for insulin resistance?

Thank you. I had a look at the article. The common medical attitude to T2D is shameful, as though we're not worthy of real (expensive) treatment because it's our fault. Btw apart from belly visceral fat, I am not particularly "fat", not that it makes me more "worthy". I hope this is changing...

    Feeling deflated need encouragement

I'm no expert, just struggling to reduce my HbA1c as you are, and also since October, when mine was 88. I did it mostly without a monitor, but on Metformin. When I got a 24 hour monitor about 2 weeks ago, I learned a lot. One thing was my blood glucose went up considerably during poor sleep - an...

Does anyone get tested for insulin resistance?

Sounds stupid, but I only realised that I wasn't properly treating my longstanding T2D last October. Since then, I've been reading up, watching videos, found this forum, etc. I'm pleased to say it's dropped from HbA1c 88 then to probably about 47 by now. What I don't know, and that's a different...

    Libre 2 plus fell off

My Libre 2 plus sensor recorded 'no signal' and I was unable to regain signal. Then I noticed it fell off, with 4 days remaining, for no reason. Would they replace in those circumstances? TIA

    Patient UK advice

Agree about having a most amazing, simple spaghetti with tomato sauce in Italy. I can't think how wholemeal pasta is Mediterranean.
