Two newly applied Libre 2 plus sensors fail

My GP surgery is closed now, and not meaning to be unkind, but I'm not sure diabetes is their specialty. After almost 4 hours since activated, sensor is still working, unlike the previous two, but continues very low, now 2.8. I am relying on it being inaccurate, but I won't feel comfortable...

Two newly applied Libre 2 plus sensors fail

Thanks, I'm Type 2, but best of luck with your pancreas honeymoon. I realise the gcm is not accurate, still find it invaluable for assessing trends. I'm going to stop stressing about the misbehaviour as there's nothing I can do about it. I don't have a fingerprint meter, as my attempts to draw...

Two newly applied Libre 2 plus sensors fail

I did switch arms, but with 2 failures, reverted back to last session's arm. I had 'cured' the first failure and was going to do this one, but in the end too impatient. I realise that Libre reads low to start with, but now wondering if something is wrong with me. Now down to 3.0. Even when the...

Two newly applied Libre 2 plus sensors fail

Just now, my third attempt at securing a new sensor. What links all three is opening with a low glucose level, the other two falling well into the two's then crashing. This one so far sticking at 3.4 mmol/L, but it's early days. Fingers crossed I get it going again. Abbott customer services were...

Desperate to de-drug after years of Type 2. GP unsympathetic.

You spoke with the hospital's diabetes specialist directly? That's amazing.

Two newly applied Libre 2 plus sensors fail

What are the chances? Two successive Libre sensors fail within minutes of being activated. It begins with dropping below range, further and further down, then poof! Error message. Should I 'Apply new sensor' as instructed? Or is something wrong with me or with my old (Android) phone?

Desperate to de-drug after years of Type 2. GP unsympathetic.

Thank you so much for your comments. You've been lucky with your HCPs. I have to admire anyone who chooses medicine as a career, but the NHS could do with better funding and some reform. I can't see how the dapagliflozin has contributed to my reduced HbA1c. I was prescribed it in July 2024...

Desperate to de-drug after years of Type 2. GP unsympathetic.

Very well done on over 5 years remission with diet alone!!! I'm wondering whether we TOFIs are not as rare as supposed, maybe especially in Asian populations.

    Struggling

@Rachox makes some good points. To raise another, was it Metformin or Metformin SR you reacted badly to? I couldn't take Metformin and was switched to SR, which was fine after a short while adjusting.

My Hba1C has gone up !

I was in a position similar to yours. My HbA1c was so high that my GP wanted me to go on insulin. I declined. In my case, I didn't understand how to reduce my glucose level naturally and was following a much reduced sweets, low fat, highish carb diet, not calorie counting as I didn't need to...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

4.2 on Libre 2+. No idea if it's accurate, but didn't sleep too badly despite heatwave.

Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

It would be interesting to have a Libre on at the same time as the Dexcom, and see how they compare, also with a finger prick metre.

Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

Oops. Note I corrected the post you replied to @Hobo1960. I meant to write mmol/l, not percent on glucose level. To me, a peak reading 9mmol/l, when it is really 11.5 is misleading. False lows even more worrying.

Desperate to de-drug after years of Type 2. GP unsympathetic.

I am normally fighty, but I think it would be the wrong thing to do with my GP practice, as you suggest. They've now relegated my diabetes treatment to an in-house pharmacist, who is likely to be biased in favour of medication, and my request was in a phone appointment. I just go off the...

Desperate to de-drug after years of Type 2. GP unsympathetic.

I had uncontrolled diabetes for many years, but for the past 8 months, I have been on a low carb diet and reduced my HbA1c significantly from a high of 88mmol/mol. Unfortunately, I also have peripheral nephropathy, which the nurse never recognised or referred me about, only looking for total...

Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

I've been using Libre 2+ for several months. Only one fell off and Abbott replaced it promptly. However, I don't trust its accuracy. I don't do finger prick testing, but was tested in hospital, and of about 8 results, only 2 matched the Libre closely. In all other cases, Libre was lower by...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

4.4 libre, so don't know if it's accurate.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

4.4. I woke twice during the night, but slept well for a change. My average glucose improved over the week and a lot over the month.

Swede mash instead of mashed potatoes.

Amazing. I prepared the swede dish by boiling then mashing and adding butter, seasoning and grated cheese. I had a rather large portion, and expected my blood glucose to spike after eating this carb. But it hardly did. I can't explain it.

Swede mash instead of mashed potatoes.

Thanks. I'll try that. Does it spike your blood sugar?
